Pioneer versus Dual

I have two turntables, a Pioneer PLC 590 and a Dual 506. Haven't played either in years. Dual needs a stylus. Moving, and can't keep them both. Any opinions on which one I should keep?

Thanks,
Cathy

That is a difficult choice. The Pioneer 590 was sold without arm. Do you know what PU arm it has on and the cartridge?

Here is one with an SME series II arm on it.

It is a high end direct drive quartz locked loop fully manual turntable.

The Dual is a middle of the line fully manual turntable.

The Pioneer is a high end and rare turntable. I have never seen one.
If it has a renowned PU on it, like an SME it is probably worth some serious money.

The Pioneer is obviously the better turntable. However it is complex and if it gives trouble and needs an NLA part, then the chances of getting it up and running again are slim.

The Dual on the other hand is one of many and relatively simple and there would be a good chance of service in the event of problems. My experience is that Dual turntables give rather more than their share of trouble.

Can you post a picture of the Pioneer?

If you haven't yet, plug them in and make sure they spin (you might manually spin the platter before plugging them in). After many years of inactivity, their is a chance that they won't.

I keep trying to post pictures of the Pioneer, but it keeps telling me the photos are too large for the server to process. How do I make them smaller?

Thanks,
Cathy

What are you using to upload photos, a computer? Phone?

ps I'd vote for the table that works better, and lean towards the Pioneer in any case.
