Surround sound effect issue through 5.1 speaker

I had recently bought new Yamaha Receiver HTR-3067 and Pioneer AJ-5235xt 5.1 speaker, and connected to LG LF6300 Smart LED Full HD TV.

Now, when I am playing any content through TV, I am not getting 5.1 Surround effect from rear speakers. It is giving 2.1 effect through 5.1 speaker.

Can anyone please confirm?
1. Whether it is possible to get 5.1 surround effect from Blu-ray rip files or it is possible only through original Blu-ray DVD?
2. Whether I can get surround effect by directly playing blu-ray content through TV from USB?
3. Whether I have to buy new blu-ray player to play blu-ray rip file to get surround effect?
4. If I have to buy new Blu-ray player then whether surround effect is possible by directly playing blu-ray rip files through USB from Blu-ray player or whether it is possible through original Blu-ray DVD only?

Don't know about ripped DVDs, but you can’t get 5.1 surround sound from any component that’s connected to the TV, with audio going from the TV to a home theater receiver. The best you can get is matrixed Dolby Pro-Logic.

The problem is you cannot use the TV as the source to your receiver. The devices need to go through the receiver or another device that can pass the signal correctly to the receiver. This is a very common mistake for some reason - the receiver needs to be the connection point, not the TV.

What exactly do you mean by ripped blu-ray/dvd? I know that some ripped movies only have stereo sound and this depends on how it has been done.

Okay. Now, for Tata Sky DTH, I will try to connect first to Tata Sky HD Set Top Box and then I will connect from Set Top Box to Yamaha receiver.
But, for playing movies from TV what will be good option? Whether I have to buy new blu-ray player, as my Current TV is SMART TV and it supports MIRACAST (Direct streaming from mobile & Laptop) & also just for info I am using Optical table from TV to connect receiver

Here, ripped blu-ray dvd means the one which is encoded in 5.1 surround format. I am using mkv format to play through TV

Then it is most likely your TV that cannot output in 5.1 and outputs only stereo.
