Building speaker setup for $650 aus

I don't plan to upgrade, I have no idea what a stereo setup is (If you could tell me that would be great) and my room is pretty small.

Stereo setup means 2 speakers that produce stereo sound. Music is mostly recorded in stereo. Movie sound tracks often are in 5.1 configuration. But as your budget is low and you don't plan to upgrade, stereo setup would be ideal.

So computer will be your source then I suppose? I dont know your prices but pair of Behringer Truth B2030A, B2031A or B3031A would be a nice speaker for budget like that.

What dac and amp would you reccomend for those speakers? Also, will l need to buy cables separately or do they come with the parts?

Those are active monitors, so you won't need an amp. You could use them without a dac as well from your computer. They will benefit from dac tho and some have reported that they have hum when connected directly to computer and using dac have got rid of the hum. ODAC for example would work in your situation. As for cables, I think they come with power cord so you would need to get cables for connecting between dac/computer and the needed cable will very on your setup.

Pretty much any dac should work as far as I know. ODAC has good reputation and is really good for the price it sells for. For the cable you need to check what input your speakers has and what output your dac/computer has.
