Configuring 2 subs when your AVR is also configured for 2 subs?

I have a Sony STR-DH550 5.2 AVR (which as an apartment dweller is perfect for my needs) and recently acquired a 2nd matching sub per Gene and Hugo's recommendation video.
I find no documentation as to how to configure a second sub since Sony already installed 2 ports to drive a pair of subs and I only get LFE from the original sub. What am I missing to get sub# 2 on line?
My concern is what should be the settings on this sub woofer and why does no option show up on the 'speaker settings' for a 3/2.2 only 3/2.1

What subs? It's possible and likely that the Sony will only see one sub as the outputs are in parallel. Are you getting no output to the second sub?

Wow were RIGHT both are working now and as soon as my bipole surrounds arrive I'll be good to go! Thanks Everett!

FYI when an avr is said to be 7.2 when it comes to the sub it simply means there are two ports/jacks to connect...there is no 7.2 in terms of content. Some sub ports can have seperate level/delay adjustments for two subs but only on higher-end avrs generally, usually simply an internal splitter offering the same content. Talking about a 7.1 soundtrack is different from a 7.2 or 7.4speaker setup (but still playing 7.1 content)...
