I just got my TSA-Pre Screen, that must mean that they can harass and abuse me quicker because I don't have to stand in the longer line?

TSA Pre is a big win. The better program, however, is called Global Entry. Global Entry lets you fly through US Customs for international trips, and you get Pre for free. Pre costs $85 for 5 years, while Global Entry is $100.

When the programs first came out, I looked into it as I flew almost every week. Back then, I had to go visit an actual office. Only, as only the government can, the nearest office was Atlanta. Not even Chicago at the time.

And you still have to go to an office; you're fingerprinted and your IDs are checked. In the Bay Area the only two locations used to be downtown Oakland and in SFO. Such convenience! And appointments, months out, and only on weekdays during business hours. And then they wonder why the sign-up rate is so low!
