Stop Me if I'm Wrong

Alright,
Per my previous thread, I'm replacing a Denon 2312 that I loved.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Onkyo TX-NR727 for $324 (Refurb)

Am I going to have any regrets about the model (I'm not worried about refurb - I know the risks)?

Is the sound quality going to be on par with the Denon 2312? The Onkyo has a much better feature set and power per channel.

Thanks again for your inputs.

Define better feature set. I doubt the power difference is meaningful without even looking them up (considering it takes a doubling of power to gain merely 3dB). You were a fan of Audyssey or not?

I was a big fan of Audessey, which the Onkyo has.

The improved feature set I'm talking about is basically a more modern version (wifi connectivity, bluetooth, more built in audio streaming apps, etc.) I'm not so concerned about features. It's nice.

Ultimately, when I dim the lights and crank up the volume, will I know that I have this receiver instead of my old beloved Denon 2312 and will I be disappointed. I don't care how hard it is to set up or anything else.

It's a crap shoot. Onkyo has had some QC issues, most notably with their HDMI boards going bad. Some owners have better luck than others, but I think you're less likely to end up with a lemon if you spend the extra cash for another Denon or Marantz.

Ah, the Onkyo numbering got me, was thinking more of current Onkyo model numbers, where Audyssey has been dropped in favor of their own AccuEQ. Your Denon had a higher version of Audyssey (XT rather than basic MultEQ). The 5w/ch difference is negligible. The internet/apps/wifi access things look pretty similar to me, just a bit different but depends what you use.

Thanks all for the quick and informative responses. I'm going to pull the trigger, but with an added 3 year warranty just in case I have an early HDMI issue. I can't wait!!
