Just got a new set up. Did I get the right things?

Hello I recently bought a new 2.0 sound system because I wanted the simplicity of a sound bar, while getting through best sound I can afford. I mainly watch anime and listen to music around the house. I'll play some video games but usually not action shoot em up bang bang games. I purchased 2 bp9060s and a pioneer elite VSX-LX301. I am still waiting for these to show up in store so I have not past the exchange do, tbough I have heard things like Marantz relievers are better and floor speakers with subwoofers have placement issues. This is my first post here so sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

It'll do, at least until you go out and hear other stuff to know what you like and don't like.

And, yes, subwoofers and mains do not always sound best when one enclosure. Their best performance is obtained by separate placement. ...but you knew this going in, didn't you?

Dear OP. Giving approval and pat on the back on your choices is not what we do here...
Enjoy your system, but If I had 2k to spend on audio I'd stay the hell away from anything Deftek
As for electronics - don't give it too much attention - they are all just fine for a simple 2.0 system.
Though I personally would prefer Denon/Marantz (same company) over Pioneer

I'm sorry if I gave the perception that I want a pat on the back. I honestly don't know what I am doing. I made an impulse buy on a couple of speakers I really like, and I want to make sure they are actually a good purchase before I buy them. I was not aware of speaker placement or the fact that subs enclosed with mains is a sub-par solution.

I could use any advice you guys might have, it is not easy for me to listen to specific speakers where I live but if I know what I'm looking to listen to it can find it.

That being said do you have any suggestions of what I should try to listen or look into before it's too late for me to back out of my purchase.

I'm confused, are you saying keep what I am getting and get an additional right left and speaker and extra stand alone subwoofer?

No. I'd send back the def techs and buy a new pair of mains and a powered subwoofer. That would give you enough money for a pretty durn good setup.

Are there any brands you might suggest that would be at a big Brock in mortar store? Like bower wilkins or martin logan?

Well, if you can acquire speakers while in the USA, get a pair of Philharmonic BMR's and a Rythmik LV12R subwoofer. They'll best anything you find in a brick and mortar store in your price range.

I'd say sub could be skipped for now since OP is moving often - less things to worry about.
In addition traveling across different electricity zones having one less (quite picky) electrical equipment I see as advantage. Slims reach down to 35hz (-2db) so sub won't be missed.

I have listened to the 8060s and I liked those but they were in a 5.1. Only thing I have heard that I have disliked is bose and small satellite set ups. I like a full sound.

Are def techs bad speakers? Seems a lot of people have negative things to say and I haven't found many people buying them.

How are Martin Logans or bower &wilkins? I know I Can get those aswell.

Martin Logan and B & W are both quality speakers but, as always, it depends on what you like. If, in fact, it turns out that you really prefer the defteks, then go for them. Personal preference trumps anyone else's opinions.

Does your discount apply to Magnolia stores? SVS PB-2000 or higher would be a worthwhile subwoofer. Polk's LSi series is pretty good. Martin Logan and B&W are both well-reputed as well. They don't sell KEF do they? Anyway, yeah, I guess just audition them all and see what sounds best to you.

Mmmm, Martin Logan Dynamo I guess? It really depends on what kind of discount you get whether it would outperform an Internet Direct offering for the money. What is your budget for mains + sub? It could be that even with your discount, you aren't getting a bargain.
