HDMI Directional Cable

I know this is debatable as to whether there is such a thing as directional HDMI cable or its just a way to make extra money. I see the debate on many forums but not an answer as to the correct direction for the arrows. But the box that this Audio Quest Pearl brand High Speed HDMI with Ethernet cable came in says the arrows should go from the source to the destination. They give an example of a set top box to a receiver. Since I am sometimes a little challenged with driving directions, I wanted to ask the question and assuming there is really something to this arrow pointing for this type cable.

For my tv to av receiver, I have connected to the tv's HDMI ARC input with arrow pointing away from and the arrow pointing to the HDMI OUT plug on the receiver. Correct?

It's not debatable - it's simple engineering. HDMI is nothing but a bunch of copper wires with identical connectors on both sides just like fact you wasted too much money on it.

Either way you connect it is fine and you're having some issues - it has nothing to do with cable direction.

Thank you. I didnt waste money on it. Bought the receiver at Best Buy, needed the cable and the one I got (at BB) was $30, Walmart had one (non-directional) for $26 but would have been gas money to get that. Now I could have gotten one at Best Buy for $340!!! So being very sensible I passed on that one.

I wouldn't have paid more that $15 for a 10' cable. I linked Monoprice.com in your other thread. Hdmi cables sold at retail outlets are over priced and often ripe with non fact based claims.

If you've got "Five Below' stores near you they sell 6 footers for $5.00. That's what I use exclusively.

I have had great success with the MonoPrice RedMere cables, they are the ones I use in all my equipment. The Ultra Slim 18Gbps cables work flawlessly and are so easy to adjust, not to mention they are really inexpensive.

AudioQuest is simply a charlatan marketing company with no actual merits when it comes to technology. I wouldn't have one of their products in my house unless you paid me....a lot (like the amount they charge for their really silly cables). You can easily buy hdmi cables over the internet of equal quality and for much less and that would involve no gas money for your driving....

Don't feel bad, it's more common then most think. If you would have looked at the link posted in your first thread all would have been good. We all make mistakes

This would mean both end's arrow on the cable was pointing the same direction. On my cable, one arrow points out and one arrow points in.

This means that unless you have an active hdmi cable the arrow makes no difference, it's marketing.

when you have arrows on the cable, they are gravity driven. Make sure the "from" side is uphill from the "to" side. Electrons flow better downhill.
