Here, I have a link to my favourite song. There is an instrument in it which I love and originally did not know what it was. After asking a lot of people on these forums and one person on YouTube, I am certain it is synthesised and if it was orchestrated, it would be a French Horn. The instrument starts at 1:16 and ends at 2:06. I wanted to know a few more opinions? Synthesiser or French horn?

No French Horn there. It's a synth and making a filthy row at that. You need a better choice in music.

This is what the French Horn sounds like, and its playing something worth listening to.

I posted it before- google Winifred Phillips and read her bio. She uses synths.

Interesting that that is your favorite song. I would generally classify that as "background mood-setting soundscaping". It is more about setting the ambiance of a scenario. I am hard-pressed to consider that it ever has a real melody.
But to each his own. Enjoy your music!

I would not be so quick to rip on this guys favorite song. Any song can be criticized. We all have our reasons for liking what music we do, and, contrary to some things that music snobs will say, quality of music itself is a totally subjective thing. A haphazard, out-of-tune rendition of 'Marry Had a Little Lamb' played on a Casio synth is no worse than the grandest orchestra playing 'Don Giovanni'. The color blue is not qualitatively better than the color red.

When I said French Horn, I meant they softened the horn tune to sound sad in the song.

Interesting what can be a favorite. There's quite a few songs that move me. Some because it's just incredible instrumentation, great lyrics, creative hooks, well recorded or other factor. Most of my favorites are that because they take me to a place and/or time in my life that I recall fondly. Not one can I definitively say is "my favorite song."

If that's yours, I'm so happy for you.
