Subwoofer Help

I've got some older cable TV / internet wiring in my apartment and wondering if it could be adapted as an LFE cable to connect another sub to my A/V receiver:

No!

An 'LFE' cable is either an RCA or XLR. If XLR is an option on your sub, that is my recommendation simply because of the solid connection (that cables like HDMI could greatly benefit from!).

While an existing cable TV coax is not the best choice for a sub-woofer cable, it will work and the price is good. But only if the new sub-woofer has an RCA input. You just need a pair of 'F' connector to RCA adapters.

I never said that, only that this has been covered before. And, it seems you don't give it an unqualified blessing here.

Not sure I totally understand your question.
Is this in the wall already or loose int he apartment. If it is long enough you can add that suggested adaptor,
F to RCA.

The cable is not in the wall, it runs along the baseboard from one end of room to other. . I've already got the adapters, just waiting for the new sub to be delivered. Once it's hooked up and I run YPAO will see how it sounds. If worse comes to worse I'll buy another MediaBridge LFE cable exactly like I've got on the original sub.

If the cable is loose and accessible, just get a proper RCA cable. They're cheap.

No reason for the cable not to work well with those RCA adapters. People do use video cables, also 75 Ohm impedance, for interconnect cable to 20kHz bands, let alone the LF band.

Back to square one, looks like the coax cable has been cut, need to buy a 36 foot long LFE cable.

I think the former cable company cut it when they removed the old gear. I don't have cutters suitable to slice through coax.
