I'm asking YOU.
You seem to know why they are different than all the other expensive headphone amp/DAC makers.
Well, I've never said one way or the other if they're different and if so how from other offerings. What I did say is that Burson doesn't manufacture that product. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it is what it is.
For starters, nowhere does in say Made in AUSTRALIA. it says it's designed but 'designed' is a nebulous term. Further, it's never clarified by the vendor. Many would think it means that some person or persons actually designed the whole thing as a prototype and then contracted with an outside company to manufacture it. That's highly unlikely. Instead, possibly by attending the various tech/audio shows in and around Australia, they located a vendor from Asia ( could be China, Singapore, Korea) presenting their offerings which in this case happened to be the type of product you bought. These can be modified to meet the customer's requirements such as labeling, layout, colors, packaging, manuals, etc. bear in mind there are case manufacturers whose sole purpose is to make cases that are thicker and consequently weigh more which allows the vendor to charge significantly more for their product.
I don't recall if your product contains a DAC but if does, Burson has violated laws and regulations by selling it in this country because it has not met FCC Part 15B testing for unintended RFI emissions. In much of the rest of the world all they have to do is slap a CE logo and they can self certify. The thing is in the US you need the FCC testing. No self certification. They won't get caught or pursued by the Feds because they're too small potatoes to expend the effort and they know this.
I'll look around and see if any outfit has tested your product. If so, I'll post the results or link.
