Monoprice Monolith 7

I know it's already come up somewhere around here, but I'm curious to see if anyone else is interested in the Monoprice Monolith 7. I think it's an alluring alternative to the Outlaw 7700 and Emo multi-channel amps. I've never been thrilled with the Emo multi-channel amps, especially the way they massage their capacitance numbers to look higher than they are. They Outlaw and Monoprice amp seem pretty close spec wise with the Outlaw delivering slightly more capacitance per channel (30,000 vs 22,400 respectively). However, the Outlaw is going to come at a price premium of $650 over the Monoprice amp, although that doesn't factor in shipping either of these two monsters.

In any case, with the Cinepro crapping the bed, it's got my interest piqued.

General rule of thumb---~10,000uF of Capacitance per 100Wrms. And, that is really a bit of a luxury, as 7,500uF per 100Wrms will certainly suffice.

Just keep that in mind when you are looking at the power supply section of an amp, and passing judgment from that spec.

That sure does look a lot like my ATI amps.

I think it's okay as long as you check with ATI to make sure that ATI will be your point of contact for service if needed.

I know ATI services the amps from Outlaw and other brands they make amps for. But not sure about Monoprice.

True, but warranty costs money and that helps account for the price difference.

Yep it's an ATI amp for sure. I bet ATI's other OEM partners are real pleased about being undersold like this

Looks like a great amp for sure but I'd be a bit concerned about service and support.

The Outlaw 7500 is balanced/bridged the older 7200 was single-ended only unbalanced.
So it looks like Outlaw dropped the 7200 and Monoprice resurrected it.

It looks really good. My Denon AVR-4520ci does pretty well with it's internal amps- but I'm toying with the idea of picking one up. I'm 61 yrs. old, so I probably need to quit buying audio gear- as my daughter and wife will just probably have a garage sale someday when I pass? I'm still in good health, but I'm getting up there.

I'm in the market for an amp, this is tempting, but I still think the Outlaw 7125 is a great deal !

Most likely Chinese made but that too is missing.

It may be a prototype photo. ATI still shows the AT6000 rear panels in silver and they are actually black.

Designed/assembled by ATi in Walnut, CA USA.. ATi is about 20 miles from MonoPrice who is located in Rancho Cucamonga...

I was looking for something that verified that since the back didn't say nor does the manual to my knowledge.

MonoPrice is bringing out more up-market home theater components, this is the 1st. Note that ATi builds amplifiers for other brands but since the present AVRs typically have limited power output capability this product addresses those requirements.
