I'm looking at getting the Yamaha 2050 the only problem for me is I do not see record out and play for a tape deck.

Can I use the zone 2 and or 3 out for record out? and an audio in?

thanks I appreciate any help

You are not going to find tape loops any more on receivers. Some have tape outs, but they have long been forbidden to output digital sources from the tape outs. On my pre pro no HDMI generated audio appears on the tape outs, and only FM if the tuner is switched to analog. It will not output HD radio.

Your solution is not a good one, as the volume control will affect the output tp the tape deck.

What are you trying to record on the tape deck anyway? To do vintage recording requires you build a switch bus if you have a lot of sources, and combine it with a vintage preamp that has a tape loop.

If the vintage preamp has enough inputs that is all you need, and then you can feed the preamp into one of the analog inputs on the receiver.

The tape outs from receivers and AV pre pros are just not useful anymore and I no longer use them.

I use a switch bus, and four vintage preamps and a stand alone vintage FM tuner, to handle recording from three turntables and nine tape machines plus the FM tuner to my audio workstation.
