What is the latest on Dolby Atmos speakers? I can install ceiling speakers in my 8 ft. ceiling, but I read in several places that Atmos enabled speakers are better for this size ceiling. Plus I can't use just any ceiling speaker, can I?
While a flat, 8' ceiling and "prefect" speaker positioning is best for upfiring speakers/modules, it's still not as good as in-ceiling or even all heights.
Basically, what we've been finding out is that if in-ceiling systems give you 100% of what you can get, All Height speakers will give you about 90% and "prefect" upfiring setups will give you 80% at best.
Also, it's been noticed that having a fairly capable overhead speaker that comes close to matching your surrounds, has given users a better experience, and a coaxial design is preferred. But if course it's not "as important" as your main channels, treat them like you would rears as far as speaker matching.
