A really sad story for sure, but I have to ask, why are they filling cavities on teeth belonging to a 14-month old? And why are they using Anesthesia? Seems a bit much given they aren't even permanent teeth which will come years later anyways.
The fault is parenting letting a child that young get bad teeth.

You do have to preserve the first dentition as they are the guide for the permanent teeth. If you go pulling or neglecting them, you create an orthodontic nightmare.

The big problem with dental anesthesia is that the operator is all too frequently in charge of the anesthetic. Since dentistry is always around the airway, the anesthetic risk is higher.

The operating dentist in my view should NEVER be in charge of the anesthetic administration.

I have been involved in some very nasty near misses from dentists offices.

This is why anesthesiologists get paid so dang much to stand there and make sure you wake up.

I went in for a correction to a recent filling and told them not to even give me a shot. It only took a few minutes and it only hurt like hell for a few seconds and then was done. At a previous dentist, the assistant gave me a shot and managed to hit the nerve. My face felt like she poured gas on my face and lit it until it numbed. When the shot wore off...I can only imagine that's what it feels like to be hit in the face with a bat.

How does a child that young have tooth decay?

It's definitely a sad situation.

Easier to toss a juice box at the kids than to feed them properly.
I can't even imagine this. I don't even let my animals go without teeth brushing. Those vet bills for pulling teeth are worse than the human ones.

Watch people with kids while you're at a grocery store or mall (if you go to them)- you'll be amazed.

Tell me brother. We just spent $2,000 have Bailey's teeth all cleaned, x-rayed and extracted 5 of them. Yorkie's almost always have teeth issues as their jaw just doesn't support enough blood flow. On top of that, with Bailey being 4 lbs and HX of seizures, she has to go to a special dentist whom is a Professor at Baylor and her partner practiced human dentistry for 30 years.
