Stopped by my local dealer Audio Video Therapy today to pick up a tube for my CJ preamp and he told me that they just became an Emotiva dealer. They should be getting some product in a couple of weeks. It will consist of some of the newer amps and I think the AV Processor. I've never seen or heard any of their gear so I'll be curious to check it out. My processor is around 10 years old so I'd like to give it a try when it arrives. The owner said he's done well w/SVS subs so he'd like to give Emotiva a shot.

Good to know, they are my go-to dealer as well. John Rein and Mark Terletzky are two of the best kind of salesmen you could ever ask for in the audio-video business, classy operation.

They had been offered the SVS subs about 8 months ago, and it took off to the point that they are the biggest volume SVS dealer in the northeast, and only 2nd or 3rd nationwide. They hesitated to bring in the speaker line, but have found the SVS speakers are at a price range that slots in nicely at the lower end that they didn't serve, while providing customers a sound profile good for starter home theater.

They have the full range of B&W, PSB, Paradigm, Linn, Totem, upper ranges of KEF and Klipsch and more. In the amps and receivers they offer Anthem, NAD, Parasound, Parasound Halo, Linn, Bryston, Sony ES and many higher end vacuum tube. Nice array of turntables too. The Emotiva line will be a worthy addition.

Just remember, they are cheap for a reason.
Never heard any of their gear but they have a loyal following and plenty of customers seem happy w/the products. There is a certain segment of the buying public that prefer to purchase products the traditional way. It's a good way to compare competing products in the store.

Well said.

BTW, may I ask which Conrad Johnson pre-amp you have, what power amp is it mated to and what speakers do they feed? If you bought from John & Mark, you probably have some "class a" stuff...they sell lots of it.

I bought the CJ ET3 SE at a demo price. A Bryston 2.5 SST2. Bryston said they will upgrade the SST2 to their SST3 series but they haven't given a price yet. Aerial 6's which I purchased about 5 years ago. Also one of John's used Linn TT's. We added a Cirkus upgrade, Dynavector 20xl2 cart and Ittok arm. I also have an Aerial CC-3 center and a pair of 5B's for surround. Sometimes I think I should put the name of his store outside my home!!

Nice setup, class a!

I got my KEF R500 on day one of last year's floor demo stock sell-off. Also bought the R200c center and R100 bookshelf (rear speakers for me) from them. So far, three SVS subs. SB1000 is sold off to my cousin, I got the SB2000 from my son after he'd had it for a month or so and bought him a PB2000. Also bought my turntable/cartridge and Bluesound Vault there.

You're in with them for a lot more than me, but I do my best. I'm sure from others I've seen sampling the goods that there's many who drop more than the both of us together without a blink. Great guys, great store.

Talked to the owner at audio/video Therapy today and he will be receiving Emo gear within the next few weeks. He wasn't specific but it will include dacs and some 2 channel amps. There is a large fan base and I'm interested in finally hearing what the buzz is all about.

I think these folks took over Ensemble's (dealer for my Ultima1's) client list because I get regular invites. It is nice to see gear before you buy, but I it is difficult to audition gear in showrooms and draw conclusions. You can find faults though.

Emotiva's move into the dealer networks is interesting.

The owners of Audio Video Therapy are two of the former owners of Ensemble. My understanding is that a third owner bought out the other two and drove it into the ground to the point that John Rein and Mark Terletsky couldn't save it and decided to start anew.

They are also quite open to letting you take the equipment home to try. In my case if I show interest in a product they'll ask if I'd like to borrow it. Sometimes it's a thumbs up sometimes down. About a year ago they added SVS subs and it's now they're top selling sub line. I think the EMO gear will do fine.

Stopped by the store today and the Emo gear arrived yesterday. They had a XPS-1 Stereo Preamp, SA-250 amp and the Stealth DAC. It was all hooked up to a pair of B&W CM-10 speakers. Nice open sound w//lot's of detail and a tight bottom end. It doesn't hide poor recordings. Didn't hear it but they also have an Emotiva Ego available.

I'm probably going to head up there Thursday just to kick some tires, as they say in the auto business. I'm curious about the Emotiva amps to see how they compare to the higher end stuff they have.

Now I wanna go. I just don't want to drive across 2 states to not buy anything. Take pictures unless you're some kind of Hemingway. :)

LOL...just a 50 minute ride through twisty backroads on my Triumph, a joy to do. Taking the bike also prevents me from bringing home anything bigger than a shoebox.

What part of what state are you in?

If I took photos they'd look just like every other photo of Emotiva equipment or (most) audio shops. Nothing new and exciting. Maybe the only curious thing is the fire-hazard-full room of used and consignment equipment that they have downstairs. This place is 3 levels. Not huge, but somehow cram in everything from SVS Prime to B&W 802D3.

Southern Mass. Pawtucket, RI. :)

Used and consignment are so right up my alley too ... *sigh*

B&W 802's sound exciting to me but then again I want to see the Triumph too. I get the riding members confused. I know Ponzio and OSA have/had scooters. I'm a has been rider too but we might have had this conversation.

I'm sure those folks can ship anything you need right to your door. Safe riding.

I find it a little curious that "driving across two states" thing because it's maybe a 1-1/2 hour drive. By comparison, our friends in Texas or Alaska might have to drive that far/long to pick up beer...and they haven't left the county.

It was quite a nice day for a ride to go do some tire-kicking at the dealer. I got to sample MQA files against 16/44.1 & 24/96 files.
