Hey!

Just one simple question. Is it okey to use good Monster premium wire for the L R and C (5 meters total and then use a little cheaper 16 gauge Hama wire for the surrounds ( left S 14 meter right S 10 meter)

Or should i use the same wire for all of them?

I myself would use some regular 12 gauge from monoprice or any other retailer for all speakers. You dont need any fancy cablings.

Okey, right now im using som old super thin (2x0,75mm) budget cable for all my speakers but since i get a good staff discount at this store i thought i might as well get some good ones. But i should not pay for the snake oil to the surrounds since it is 25 meters?

Any regular 12 gauge ofc cable is fine for all of your speakers. There is no difference to any more expensive cable. You don't necessarily need that thick cable but when you get thicker cable once you don't need to worry about it.

You can use 14 or 16 gage wire as well and still not notice any change at all. Some speakers and receiver/amplifier connections can't handle the 12 gage wire.

By getting 14 or 12AWG now you'll help future proof. Just in case you get a different speakers that present a greater load to your system.
Distance isn't the only factor when choosing wire. You need to know your power and load too.
Here's a wire chart that will help you: http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm#wiretable
25 meters is over 80ft.
I'll bet you can find great wire at Monoprice, that's cheaper than your discount.

Not sure where you live since you are using metric measurements.
That wire you have .75 mm is about a 20 ga US equivalent, very thin for speakers.
You should be using at least 1.6 mm diameter wire, 14 ga US, especially for the surrounds, 33 ft and 45 ft.
While the fronts are much shorter, might as well have all the same kind of wire. Stranded wire from hardware store is fine. How expensive is that 16 ga Monster. That too may be too much even with your discount.

Today I bought som wires. The Monster XPHP something something - cable for the L R and Center.I paid 2,7 $/metre which is half the price : ) i belive the monster cable is around 14 gauge.

I didnt like the fact to pay so much for just the surround channels so i got a standard Hama 2x1.5mm wire and paid about 0,85 $/metre which is half the price. Might been a little stupid but i really cant understand the benefits of running monster cable for the surrounds at that cost, even with the discount. This new Hama cable is much thicker then the old ones so i think im good, and i saved som $ which means more beer for me.

Btw i live in Sweden, and thanks for the replys :)

I'm not sure you understood that in fundamental terms, the longer the wire the thicker it should be.

You would have been safer to get the Monster wire for the surrounds and the smaller wire for the mains. I think you should be OK, but I would have gone the opposite way you did and drink cheaper beer for a little while.

Ahh.. If I knew you were from Europe I could of pointed you some good and cheap cable. Those cables should be fine, but like said, for longer runs you should have thicker cable.

Too late but you should have used that 1.5 mm wire for all the channels. The Monster is just too expensive.

Don't know how the cost stacks up to what you say you used, but I've used the 12 AWG speaker wire from Monoprice a few times and have been thoroughly happy with it and it's cheap.

Why do people come here, ask for advice, then just do whatever the heck they wanted to from the start? Completely ignoring not just the recommendations, but the science?

Monster Cable is an overpriced rip-off. You paid far more than it is worth. Period.
The 'cheap' cable you bought was overpriced.
You should have slowed down, listened to the guys who have been doing this for years, and found a better price on speaker cable which would have not only saved you money, but would have been more appropriate for your setup.
