Seriously, I have no life.
I don't see 'UL Listed' and they were in hot water with UL because of their speaker cable- they stated that it was rated for in-wall use when it wasn't. I use a PanaMaxx that shuts down below 90VAC and above 140VAC.

So, you are saying to be leary of this unit? I like the price, but if it is NOT very good why even bother. I see not too many here has one. That should tell me something.

Cheers,

That is a good price on the Furman PST-8. It seems to be highly regarded. So, you think that this one is better than the monoprice power center? I am using monoprice power strips now. Should I be concerned? I have always thought monoprice was legit, no?

Cheers,

Phil

I like that Furman- in addition to doing a good job, it has outlets that can be switched on using the 12VDC trigger from an AVR, etc. One of the houses where I have done a lot of work since the beginning of '07 has one and they experience frequent thunderstorms, with strikes that occur very close to the house. Never had a problem with any of the equipment using Furman surge/distribution and Minuteman surge/UPS for computers/router/modem and network switch/security cam DVR.

When power surges are concerned, it's best to ALWAYS be concerned.

These use devices that are considered to be sacrificial or non-sacrificial and some of the sacrificial devices are encased in ceramic material.

This video shows what can happen-

I will look into Furman. Especially, the PST-8. The price looks to be good. Thanks for the link. BTW, that video clip is scary!:eek::eek:
