I don't include Yamaha because it is out of my budget. In Europe there are different prices than USA. I have to choose between Onkyo TX-NR545 and Sony STR-DH750. In your opinion which is better please? I repeat: Sony was shipped on 2014, Onkyo was shipped on 2015. Thanks

I would go with the Sony. I have some Sony in almost all of my systems. Peace and goodwill.

But did you read the feautures of both? Onkyo TX-NR545 is much more powerful and it has many more features.

OP,

Your question is understandable, that's to say, that you believe you can make a good buying decision by asking experienced users for advice, but, at some point you've got to ask does the unit I'm looking at do what I want it to do. So, first write down your list of what is important to you. Since you stated earlier you don't want to think for yourself here's a very short list of what might be important: Warranty, Cosmetics, Easy to Operate, DAC/Processor Capability, Wireless Control/Interface, Network Connection. Since you may not yet understand what features may be beneficial, look into what the features promote. The power of the unit, by the way, is the least of it all.

I've had my pre/pro for 16 years and I am still completely satisfied. It's a Sony. The only thing I need today to realilze perceived improvement to my listening pleasure is a Network Audio Player. I'm now doing what you are doing, shopping to make the best decision. It appears I've narrowed it down, interestingly enough, to two somewhat different components, an Oppo 105 and a Marantz NA6005. I narrowed it down to these two devices since with the Oppo I can playback multi channel SACD's which I would like to do; and, with the Marantz I can use it as a wireless DAC to play hi-res files from my home theatre system which I want to do.

Congrats. When you get it I can show you some settings so it won't overheat.

I thank you. In the meantime can you tell me what Settings you mean please?
First I would give 545 lots of air. Do not put anything on top, YIKES. 2nd. lower the ohm from 6 to 4. This will keep the heat down. Not necessary, but your call 3rd Get a laptop fan: http://www.amazon.com/Laptop-Notebook-Cooler-Pad-Fans/dp/B0032R2CDQ/ref=sr_1_7?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1454161911&sr=1-7&keywords=Laptop+Notebook+Cool+Pad+w/+3+Fans with the air circulating out and put it on top of your Onkyo. Onkyo/Denon, etc seem to have problems with HDMI boards, so like yourself I read endlessly and NEVER had a problem with my Onkyo's after following those steps. Better to be safe than sorry. Good Luck Paisano. :)
