In case you weren't aware, Denon & Marantz are two brand names owned by the same company and (likely) made in the same factory. Pioneer may be somewhat iffy as I don't believe they have the same levels of quality control though use good components. Yamaha good all-around.

Perhaps you can share with my why Pioneer gear is iffy. I may have to throw out three AV receivers and an integrated amp.

Denon & Marantz have always had my vote for Audyssey Dynamic EQ. :)

IMO, Pioneer is every bit as good as D&M in terms of quality, reliability. I just don't prefer class D..yet.. and I know nothing about how well MCACC work.

I don't think the Pioneer quality nor performance is in question. The company, however, has been going through a lot of twists and turns in their financial respect.

EDIT: Forget I said anything, I'm FOS. In my head I confused Pioneer with Panasonic.

Sorry I misunderstood, so you were talking about ownership changes etc.

Not all Pioneer AVR's use class D amps. I have a new VSX-90, for instance, that has AB amps. I do have a D amp on my computer. It has a bass boost but I don't know that it results from being class D. Otherwise I don't have enough experience with class D amplification even to have an opinion.

I don't know if the change of ownership of the home audio division to Onkyo is positive or negative. It hasn't hurt the customer service. The Onkyo reps do a fine job. My guess is that the home audio division was unprofitable for Pioneer so they concentrated on the car and pro audio end of their business. So the sale to Onkyo may in fact be positive in the long run. I guess we'll see.

I have heard class D amp that sounded very good, just not my preference that's all.

I've heard (for several hours with several speaker pairs) the NAD M12/M22 pair of pre-amp & power amps, Class D Hypex nCore products. Wow, is about all I can say. They lack for nothing. I don't think you'll soon find that form/level of Class D amp in a receiver though. :D
