Using dual subs with Denon 5308ci

I have just received 2 brand new svs sb-12 nsd subs and have connected them to my Denon 5308ci using the sw, and sw2 preouts. I ran Audyssey and both subs were properly recognized by the Denon. I have it setup as 5.1 in the audyssey settings, with the subwoofer settings set to "2 sp mix", as opposed to the only other setting for using 2 subs, which is "2 sp l/r"
The issue I am having is that I am not getting output to both subs depending on the input signal. My hope/expectation was that the Denon 5308ci was capable of driving up to 3 subs simultaniously without having to employ splitters given there are 3 subwoofer preouts. I was expecting for both subs to basically act as 1 at all times. If one sub is playing sound, I want the other to play a mirrored image of that same sound.
Please tell me if there is a menu I am overlooking, or if perhaps I should be connecting the subs in a daisy chain??
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you

I have never had any issues connecting 4 subs to my Denon 5308 using SW1, SW2, & SW3 outputs + Y-cable. I use "3SP Mix".

I can't think of anything else. It was straightforward for me.

The lack of output could be do to the room (how large is it?) and the subs you are using. You might be using two subs, however they shouldn't be run as stereo but mono. Also, the settings in your AVR might be contributing to the problem. Anyway, when you say lack of output, please describe that, what do you consider sufficient output?

Thanks very much for the response. To eleborate more on myself and the issue at hand, I am not new to the home theater, receiver, world. This has been an everyday hobby for about 8 years now. I have a very reasonable working knowledge of all of my equiptment and how it all functions (for the most part).

My room is a small bedroom 14'Lx12'Wx8'0H. These 2 subs are ample at the minimum for the space I am looking to fill, and is almost certainly more than "enough". I should have mentioned that when just the 1 sub was playing it already sounded fantastic and filled the entire room nicely. My issue isnt with a low output from either sub. My issue is that no sound at all plays from 1 side depending on the source material. Now when using the "ext in" input from my bdp-95 I can understand why it only plays from 1 sub because it is all direct and there is no native channel for the 2nd sub in that source material. But my expectation was that with any digital source, that both subs would receive and output a mirrored image of one another at all times. Whether it was from the LFE or from bass managed sound coming from the small speakers in my system...I was expecting for both subs to be active simultainiously.

Am I missing something?

Sorry, but we do need to cover all of the bases.
First, are your main speakers set to small? What did you select for xo?
Please list which sources and how they are connected (HDMI, TosLink, RCA, etc) and whether or not the second sub plays with that source.
I'm not sure where to go with this, but the fact that the problem is source dependent seems like a clue.
The back of that thing certainly is busy!!!

Well I want to apologize for wasting people's time. I only had last night to test everything for the 1st time. I wasnt able to turn up the volume much and I suppose I just couldn't hear the sound that was apparently coming from the 2nd sub. I was only listening with the volume set at -35 or so and I wasn't listening to bass heavy source material. Anyhow, using the SW AND SW2 outputs, using the 2sp mix option, they both seem to be working as I had wanted (mono).

My system is as follows and now sounds as great as it ever has. These 2 subwoofers have been the biggest upgrade Ive made in terms of actual audible benefit. I cant believe how great they sound.

Thank you for everyone who tried to help.

Glad you got it worked out and everything sounds great. For your size room, a pair of those subs with xt 32 should give you fantastic bass - sounds like you are there!

Also use Dynamic EQ if you like punchy bass. I always use DEQ on my 5308 & AVP-A1.

I dont have the upgraded 5308ci with xt32. Just xt. Its important to point out that I have run Audyssey in this same bedroom countless times. But this time I raised the tripod a few inches and didnt move it from the sweetspot. Everything is FINALLY dialed in. The point being that It cant hurt to keep running Ausyssey until your system sounds great.
