which speakers from crutchfield would you get??

They are butt ugly shadyj, not sure the ole lady would like them sitting next to our new 75 inch 4k tv in our newly remodeled living room,....hell maybe I can hide them in a wall or something....haha.....

just got off the phone with klipsch and he assures me that the denon receiver is underpowering the speakers and that is why the tweeters keep blowing...He suggested getting a 200 watt amp ,will this solve the problem?

You could go for the XTZ Cinema M6. There are 4 tweeters in each speaker for you to blow! But actually, having the load on each channel divided among four tweeters will get you better power handling I think. Just to be safe, it couldn't hurt to email them and ask them whether their 60-day in-home trial and 5-year warranty on drivers would cover blown tweeters due to your penchant for hearing loss. Marshall Guthrie reviewed them.

If you are cranking the speakers and they are dying, the speakers are the problem. They are not meeting your demands. Like TLS Guy said, the tweeters are not doing the job for you. Here is the speakers you need from Crutchfield. Those will not die from under-powering the tweeters. They will get much, much louder than the Klipsch speakers. The Klipsch tweeters are sadness. Those JBL live sound speakers will crush you.

What are the main differences , I mean if the jbl live speakers scream past the klipsch then why would anyone buy the klipsch towers.?? also I see that the jbl have 1/4 inch connections will they hook up to my denon? thanks man

What do you define as clarity? Is being loud and not blowing up and being heard by neighbors 5 blocks away your definition of clarity or actual accuracy? From your other threads it seems total output is more your priority.

Um, professional speakers are not designed to be graceful nor accurate. They sacrifice quality of sound for efficiency and output.

Because the JBL speakers are ugly as sin, they're huge, they don't sound "good".

I like to listen to music VERY loud yet I like it to be VERY clear....I think that is why I have blown 3 tweeters in the past week... I thought I was spending a lot of money on this set up, but I am seeing now that $2500 is chump change when it comes to high end audio...I just cant see those little bookshelf speakers putting out BIG sound, I may be wrong ,.......I really wish I would of found this site before I went with what I got...This whole ordeal is starting to take its toll on me....I have klipsch rp-280f speakers coming tomorrow at 10am and I bet by 3 or 4 o'clock I have the tweeters blown with this "GREAT FIT" receiver that "crutchfield" "ASSURED" me was MORE than enough to push these klipsch speakers....really frustrated at this point, wish I still smoked pot right about now

Have you played with the spl calculatior that has been linked for you? If you havent you should as it will show you information about power requirements for peak spl. Example from 10'and 25w your max SPL is 108.3 db, by going to 100w your max spl would be 114.3 db. Both very loud. This is from your owners manual:

Amplifier Requirements — Klipsch speakers are highly efficient and will operate easily on a wide variety of amplifiers. All Klipsch speakers are 8-ohm compatible and can be driven to very high levels with low distortion. Due to the high output levels Klipsch speakers are capable of reproducing, exercise caution with the volume control. Excessive volume over long periods can permanently damage your hearing. Overdriving your amplifier could also damage your speakers. Check with your dealer or amplifier manual to make sure your particular amplifier is best suited to your application. We want you listening for a lifetime.

The JBLs are intended for live sound applications. However, you can use it for home audio too. The frequency response is a bit rocky and the DI is not perfect, but neither are abjectly terrible. You wouldn't want to use these speakers as near-field monitors, but if your listening position is back far enough, they might sound fine. They will get screamingly loud, and as far as dynamic range is concerned, they will blow waaaay past the Klipsch speakers. Not even the same ballpark, not even the same game. Here is another one, it is not quite as powerful as the JRX225 but it has a much flatter frequency response, and is still miles ahead of the Klipsch in terms of dynamic range. What's more, both these JBL speakers have a protection circuit for the tweeter, so it is far more difficult to destroy than regular tweeters. These speakers are also using real compression drivers instead of the goofy aluminum domes that the Klipsch speakers have. They will get many times louder than the Klipsch speakers without breaking a sweat.

I had a par of klipsch RF-82ii speakers sent out from crutchfield and blew a tweeter the 2nd day I had them. they rushed me out another speaker and I blew both tweeters this time....so yea,...3 tweeters in one week....I just got the RP-280F"s today and so far so good. they are playing now and sound really good the tweeters in these seem to be 100% more clearer than in the RF line...

If you're gonna blow 'em, do it now while they are sending out free replacements!

Have you pushed them as hard as you did the RF-82ii's?
