how high is to high

New to 7.1 don't notice that much difference wondering if it's because all my rear speakers are too high. They are all over 6 feet high I can't lower them on back wall was wondering if I should take my side speakers and put them high on front wall. Or should lower side speakers and angle down rear speakers. Is this a case of trying something and seeing what's best. Don't want to put more holes in walls then needed.

Just tilt the ones that are too high toward your ears.

That's normal, and why lots of folks ultimately revert back to 5.1 or 5.2. There's not much stuff that comes out of those rear surrounds. Like fmw said, just try to tilt them down a bit if you can, and forget about it.

In my view the main effect of the two rear speakers has been the sale of more speakers. Don't feel bad. Some people have 9 or 11 speakers or more.
