Is it a good subwoofer? It is 150$ new on eBay and 350$ on Amazon? Should I pull the trigger and get it? If not what subwoofers would you recommend? I also found a klispsch k-100sw for 120$ is it a better subwoofer?

What size is your room? That is a good sub. Member Kew has that sub I believe.

It is a big room (continuous open space ~30ft x 15ft) but people sit ~10ft away from the TV. The TV is in a corner on one end so the sound resonates well towards the couch/chairs.

I have an ESW-C8, it is a good sub, given the small size. I'm sure the 10 is better.

However, if size is not a major constraint, this is all-around a more competent sub - it will play louder and deeper, and is just an excellent package of sub goodness for $138 shipped!

It is not big, by any means, but the SUB-1200 is 16-3/4" H x 16-3/16" W x 17-3/4" D; 44 pounds
and the ESW-C10 is 14.8 x 13 x 17 inches ; 28 pounds
and the ESW-C8 is 12.3 x 10.5 x 12.7 inches ; 16 pounds

I was thinking of that sub too. Fry's has a black Friday sale for a klipsch reference 12" 400w sub for ~200$ (I am 99% sure because it is the only 12" 400w sub that they have). Is it worth the extra 60$ over that Dayton? Size isn't a constraint BTW.

I really could not say, as I have never heard that Klipsch sub.
I have heard this sub from Klipsch and can say with certainty that the SUB-1200 is clearly a better sub.:

Sorry, that doesn't give you much to work with.

I cannot post links yet but the model is R-12SW. It is a 450$ subwoofer

Its the klipsch model R-12SW. Its a 450$ sub that will be on sale for 200$. I was wondering if its worth the 60$ premium over the Dayton

I can speculate only, but I would speculate that the Klipsch will probably have higher output level capability.

Despite the fact the Dayton states their FR as 25Hz-140Hz they don't have a deviation figure like the Klipsch which states 29Hz-120Hz +/-3dB. I'm also going to speculate the Klipsch will be more effective at lower frequency output comparing these specifications.

So most likely more output, most likely more extension, nicer looking...

I do believe it may well be worth the extra $60.

There are measurements in Jmans review of the sub 1200 where he measured the frequency response. Unfortunately I only have my phone so can not post a link.
