I have a Sony Blu-ray player and an Epson 8700ub projector. Recently, I've noticed that some scenes are very pixelated. We watched Inside Out and it was really pixelated. I switched to 1080i on the blu-ray player and it is much clearer. Is this a sign that I need to update or replace my HDMI cable? It's 30 feet long so that's a bit of a concern. It has worked well for the last 4 years so I'm not sure what' going on.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I'm not sure what a native signal is.......I know just enough about this stuff to be dangerous!

Just the blu-ray player is connected.

Native would be what the original format of the bluray your playing is (ie 720p 1080i, 1080p), without the BRP altering the output. can you try a different source to see if the problem still occurs? Not that the cable couldnt be a problem, but if it has worked prior it seems to be unlikely. Make sure your projector isnt doing any additional processing by checking your settings (a button pushed by accident ) also try the other hdmi input

Gotcha....I think it's native must 1080p If I play a movie on TV (I have Verizon FIOS) I don't get any pixelation either. I know that is broadcast in 720p, correct? I'll try check the projector and swap inputs as well. Thanks!

How is your TV (verizon) connected to the projector

I have a Yamaha receiver. I guess I forgot to mention that.....I just switch through that.
Ahh still try the other input on the projector to see if that recreates the problem. But after make sure your yamaha isnt doing video processing to the signal, ie that dreaded a button got pushed situation
