Beginner to Oppo and Denon

I am new to av equipment and technology, so please overlook my ignorance. However, I am seeking a answer to a question involving a near future purchase of a Oppo 103d. Furthermore I have prematurely purchased an on sale Denon x 5200w, that I later was educated about hdmi 2.2 and how I should had researched before giving them my hard earned uncle bens. So, I would like to ask if I buy a Oppo 103d with the 2 hdmi outputs, that I would be able to connect one to television and the other in the 5200 and be able to watch and hear the blu ray movie in sync? Thank you in advance for every ones advice.

The Oppo is not HDCP 2.2 either. I don't think you need to worry about HDCP2.2 yet because there aren't much 4K Blu ray yet. By the time they are here I am sure manufacturers (Oppo for sure) will be smart enough to provide two HDMI outputs so people can watch their 4K movies by doing what you are suggesting. If not, you can probably use the Audio return feature of the 4K smart TVs though in that case you may only get two channel sound, or you can use the coaxial/optical outputs from the BDP but that would limit you to DD+ and DTS etc. By the way, don't mix HDMI up with HDCP. There is no such thing as HDMI 2.2 at the moment.

If you connect the Oppo to the Denon by HDMI, and connect the Denon by HDMI out-put to the TV, you'll get the Blu Ray audio through the Denon and Blu Ray video through the TV. You can do this by other paths, but this should give you better overall control. Also, if at a later time, you add another video source by HDMI, you'll have a more flexible set up.

Yes, if you must have hdcp 2.2, I highly recommend you wait for their next model that should work well with your AVR-X5200W assuming they will continue to offer two hdmi outputs.

I have a silly question… should one not use Oppo's analog outputs rather than trying to get sound via HDMI out of the Oppo? I thought the big thing about the oppo was the quality of the DAC, no? Going through HDMI for sound out of the Oppo seems to bypass what makes the Oppo a great blu-ray player, I could be wrong though (i'm using the cheapest, dumbest samsung BD player I could get and outputting HD audio via HDMI to the Classe SSP and it's pretty awesome).

For someone new to AV, you made 2 outstanding choices! You are well on your way to probably having the finest HT in your neighborhood. Some good speakers and sub(s), and you're golden. Congrats!

The multichannel analog outputs are useful for people who hang on to their older AVR that do not have HDMI inputs but have multichannel analog inputs. The newer Denon, even their higher end models no longer offer multichannel inputs but Marantz top 2 or 3 models still do. Even if you use the multichannel I/Os, the 103 does not offer better DAC than the higher Denon, Yamaha, Integra, Onkyo and Marantz models. Besides, if you want to use the Room EQ features of the modern AVRs, be able to decode the latest surround codecs, and have more than 7.1 channels, you will have to use HDMI.

I will start off with my primary avr the denon x 5200w, that directly supply the following speakers, center polk cs5, the surround back polk rti8s, wides rti8's, height polk rti6. From there following the 5200 set up menu, I have used the rca outs to the first (slave amp, for lack of proper word to describe this procedure), denon 5800 which powers 4 rti12's for left and right channel. I could not find a amp assign on the 5800 to bi am so I just used the left channels that had power to bi wire them as well. I then went from the surround left and right to a second slave amp denon 3808 ci{ craiglist buy] and bi amped and bi wired them as well. My tops I also slave amp a biamp mod mode Yamaha 2065v which power mc 80's. the subs I use is the svs ps1000, on one side and the second channel I have a frys special jbl 150 watt special. So here is the question, what input terminals and mode should I set the the slave amps to, like phone, cd, dvd, vcd, ect. I am not sure which one is the best for what I am trying

IMO you are complicating things to the nth degree for little or no gain. Why not just use the 5200 to power everything except the L,R,C and use the 5800 to power the L,R,C? Then you can sell the 3808 or use it in another system. If you want real sound quality improvement, look to upgrading the speakers and replace the 5800/3808 with a single 2 or 3 channel real power amplifier. That just my 0.00002 cents.

What do you hope to accomplish by bi-amping? Of all the audiophiles here, there are only a couple who do that. And their speakers have big honkin' woofers they like to control separately, (like subs).
