SurgeX - does it affect dynamics?

I was wondering if products like surgeX affect dynamics?
Does it look at instantaneous high power demands and treat it as a surge, hence affecting dynamic performance of amps/receivers?

No, a surge comes in on the 'line' or supply side. While power demands are on the load side.
Better to know that your total load doesn't exceed the outlet and the surge-x unit.

Seriously, I have no life.

Depends on the current demands of the amplifier- if the SurgeX can't handle that, then it's possible to affect what the amp sees but in practice, not usually. If this was possible, the amp should be on a 20A circuit anyway and the SurgeX shouldn't be used.

Coming to my second question.
How reliable is surgeX? What are the reliable alternatives to it?

While I don't intend to use with my AVR, I think need one for the rest of my equipment (TV, PC & monitor).
My receiver runs from an Emerson Online UPS. The rest are connected to the home UPS. There are power anomalies which affect at least my monitor, now and then.

SurgeX is top notch. Used them a lot in past installs.

I generally don't use surge products on Amps. They are generally engineered to handle surges and drops.
