So, a group of vegans walk into a steakhouse...

If anyone comes into a steakhouse while I'm trying to enjoy my dinner and starts spouting that nonsense I don't think I'd be alone in telling them to go straight to hell. It's too bad that little stunt didn't backfire into their ignorant faces.

Yeah, I love dogs and respect animals, but at the end of the day, eating meat is a cornerstone of human life. No one shakes a stick at a chimpanzee if it eats meat, what's the difference?

I would have loved to see someone whip a 24oz T bone to that old broads helmet as she was reading her cue card, or if someone had some viscous pitbulls or maybe a lion outside that starting eating them when they exited...

My wife eats vegan, BUT does NOT promote it like a self absorbed tool, she likes to eat what she likes to eat, she doesnt push it on others or look down on anyone else, she hasn't eaten meat since she was 7 years old and very little before that, never red meat... But she laughs at these people.

One time we were at a wedding, and she got the vegetarian plate which was pasta with olive oil, basil, etc, some roasted vegatables, and some kind of tomato basil bread. It looked delicious, I got steak and mashed potatos, lol.. So this other women comes up to her and says "oh are you vegan also", and my wife said "no, I just ate sooo much meat last night I can't bare to have any more" she went on to say how she had a sausage and eggs for breakfast, turkey, bacon, club for lunch, and lambchops for dinner, and planned on getting steak and eggs for breakfast in the morning... The women didn't say another word, just walked away... I loved it... MOST vegans are all about the attention and being different, they were bored housewives or watched a documentary about slaughter houses, lol...

My sons and I are meat eaters, I am an avid hunter, Was out this morning waiting for anything over 8 to walk by me, because it would have had an arrow in its heart, and shortly after been hanging from skid steer with no guts :) .... I also love animals, I donate to the sad sarah maclaughlin commercials, I love my dogs, our mean cat, and I love goats (we had a few but I gave them away to a farm because we are not home enough to take care of them), BUT I also like the taste and nourishment I get from eating meats.

Last night we went to my brothers house and I had a cheese burger, swedish meatballs, 3 steak tips, and my son made me taste a bacon hot dog they put together... I LOVE MEAT... My wife had potato salad (oil based and vinegar style, it was good), chips and salsa, and a black bean burger, everyone was happy..

Seriously, I have no life.
I went on a rafting trip in the Grand Canyon and as usual, we had a good mix of people, including some vegetarians. We have no problems with people who don't eat meat and we all got along well. I don't think one of them liked my jokes about banjos, but it was all in fun and she understood that (she and her husband own a stringed instrument store that sells banjos). One night, the main course was New York Strip steaks and I'll tell ya, they smelled great an tasted even better. The non-meat eaters had veggie burgers. Well, the guides cooked veggie burgers but the vegetarians took a couple of bites and asked for steaks.

They just have to try to force others to agree with them- I bet they all have a 'Coexist' bumper sticker on their cars, too.

Funny, as this is one area evolution and religion agree. Human body was (evolved or designed; doesn't matter in this case) to eat high energy food including meat.

From the vegetarians I know, these people are freaks!
They are among the nicest most peaceful people I have ever met. Some would rather not watch me eat meat, but they consider it their place to go do something else for a while, rather than ask me to change my behavior.
It bothers me that a post like this seems to garner anger towards vegetarians, but I have a hard time believing any significant percentage of vegetarians would accept (much less engage in) stunts like this.
When they come up with a term for a vegetarian also allowed to eat steak, burgers, bacon, BBQ, and meat-lovers pizza, I will be ready to become vegetarian!

It's probably very tempting to see a good steak being eaten when your salad was your entree. Like an alcoholic sitting at a bar watching whiskey being poured after drinking a delicious cup of warm water.

ImcLoud,

While I agree with everything you posted, one thing I'll ask you to reconsider is any donations to the cause given by Ms. McLaughlin. The ASPCA diverts money AWAY from the all the "feet on the street" local "xxxx Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals" organizations and shares none of their copious funds to those orgs. Please give directly to your local agency; more money direct and far less to fundraising.

I like meat, but it is ethically problematic. I try to restrict my meat to ethically raised meat. Many of the animals raised for our consumption are treated terribly so we can save a few pennies on a pound of beef or pork. What's more is meat is a huge resource hog environmentally speaking. Tons of more water and fuel is needed for the same amount of protein meat provides over veggies and grains, and it is also far more polluting. We don't need to eat meat, we only do so for pleasure. I love ribs, hamburgers, tacos, etc, but I have to admit that if future generations deem us evil for our appetites, they will be right to do so. We are not good people.

I don't get the point of this thread? I know plenty of vegans and vegetarians. None get upset when I order a steak, or even a vegetarian plate and have them add chicken to it. LOL! What can I say? I eat more vegetables than meet just because I like vegetables. A little meat in those vegetarian dishes often trump anything else on the menu. Really, try it. In reality, the issue is usually reversed. People often think it's strange that I ordered the calabacitas tacos over any carne variety and I have to answer I'm not a vegetarian and just think at this restaurant they're better than the carne versions. Why is there such a stigma about eating your veggies? It seems Mark has found another poster child to uphold his beliefs which we all know.....

I just found it funny. that's all. A perfect example of people butting in wher they have no business or place and getting publicly ridiculed for their actions. Did you note the other diners laughing at them?.

No, no great political statement was intended but I do find it amusing that you got your panties in such a bunch over it that you just had to throw in a snide attack on me. In all my years I can say I've never seen anyone give vegans crap about what they are eating (nobody really cares), but the opposite cannot be said. So, who are the sanctimonious ones here? Does this video answer that question for ya? ;)

Well, there are 'militant', activist vegans out there. On that note, the federal gov't has banned all pork product in Federal prisons.

We discovered the same thing. Now we sponsor a couple cages at our local shelter.

Why? Being cynical and considering our current administration, I'd wager it was more to avoid offending muslims than for any humane or nutritional reason.

They said it had to do with a study done indicating prisoners didn't care for pork products as much. Ask costs had increased. I'm unaware of anything being published.

Don't they know bacon is pork? Who doesn't like bacon?
