I'm not especially enamored by the President but if you take a look at his account on Twitter, you'll find it's not especially active. I don't know if he posts himself or he has people who do it on his behalf or some combination. Most of the posts tend to hilight the administration's perceived accomplishments. To his credit, he didn't wait five days to comment like with Chattanooga.

The press to me seems to be acknowledging Chris Mintz's heroics. There has been a GoFundMe page setup which last I read has raised over $700,000 and shows little sign of tapering off. Let us not forget the other victims, deceased and wounded. Lives too quickly ended.

It should be noted that Oregon enacted more stringent gun control legislation after the Sandy Hook massacre. Nonetheless, the POTUS and others are weaving talk about gun control into this. For once. I wish they would specifically state what they want to enact and how it would have prevented such an occurrence. As bombastic as Trump can be, I think when he said we have a mental health problem, he was closer to the root issues than anyone else.

My understanding is that during the initial 'press conference' Ahmed was flanked by a lawyer who does work for CAIR. The police assumed that lawyer was retained by the Mohamed family.

And, what did Ahmed's family do to correct this thinking? After all, this what the courts had on record as his lawyer. Did they bother to tell their authorities who their new representation was?

Sounds to me like this was yet another step in their plan to manipulate the media to their advantage.

Well, they've been gallivanting about the country and overseas. It seems they and whomever their lawyers are presently were unaware. Just miscommunication. I think they're now looking into the possibility of releasing the records but that's a far cry from actually doing it.

Apparently, they were in communication with the police all along. After all, weren't they griping to the press about the police not returning the clock to them?

I believe that's all considered taxable income. The gifts definitely are.

Nope. You read it spot on. In the balance of the reaction, 5 LEO's showing up, questioning him even after he asked for his parents, I have ZERO issue with a photo op.

But A) he didn't ask for a lawyer and B) the NDAA and charges of/bordering on terrorism don't allow the same rights as most other charges.

If he was really a smart kid, he would have paid attention to what his science teacher recommended.

A brief synopsis of what's since transpired.

The kid, his pops, and I don't know who else, went to Mecca and touched the stone. He then went to Sudan where he met with the president, al-Bashir, and said some nice things. FWIW, the Pres is wanted on war crimes, but hey. He returned to the US and on Monday attended Astronomy night at the White House. Obama shook his hand and had a few words. Tuesday, he went to the Capitol Building but I don't know if he met with anybody. Family flew back to Texas where I guess he calico up his invention. The family announced they'll be moving to Qatar where the kid will finish up HS and college. A Qatar foundation is picking up the tab. No word if the rest of the kids also get a free ride or if the family will be provided with a place to stay and income. Oh, and CAIR named Ahmed Muslim of the year. I'd like to think the IRS is keeping a running tally but they only seem to go after conservative groups. Maybe he will take his clock on the plane.

When he asked for his parents the questioning should have stopped. Soon they will move to Qatar and the circus will hopefully move with them.
