Reading the book at slow rate a few pages often most nights and I like the attention to detail to how the character stranded on Mars alone with food supplies that can only last so long and he has to grow his own crops to survive until another mission can possible come to his rescue. If his water replenishment device fails he'll die of thirst.
The Martian (2015) frequency waterfall spectrum lab, monitored on Lucasfilm Ltd THX Sound System, crossover/monitor. LCR (MIX).
I like it so looks like The Martian will have some lows just below 20Hz.
Seems like it won't have GRAVITY dialogue panning which seems to be a sounding disappointment as GRAVITY is best sound I have listened too in +30 years. So looks like common dialogue centre mixed maybe with a few odd pans but not pans at 100% level on LCRS. Looks like it might be okay film for sub bass if you like that short of thing for a few minutes max of the film as the rest would be mild level and dialogue but least the clip Dolby Stereo shows lows below 20Hz that looks good enough.
Have a few modern day Mars films Total Recall, Red Planet and Mission To Mars.
The Martian trailer music in Dolby Stereo sounds cool in THX JBL
