Ok so at the moment i have decided to upgrade my old sub ( KLH e10),,,
I'm stuck on choosing one of the following ,either the BIC PL-200 or
with a lil extra cash the SVS PB1000.

I have a 5.1 set up at the moment ( will be 7.1 when i get more speaker wire), using a Denon X2100W, with the Energy take classic speakers.
The room is a open plan, 14 x 15 ft., mostly use it for watching movies.
I mean. is the difference between the 2 subs really day and night and worth the extra $200 , or could i just be happy with the PL200?
Hope you guys can help with some quality advice ,,thanks :)

I think you'll find most people would feel it's worth the extra $200. To an extent you get what you pay for, in subwoofers or anything else really. That's not a hard and fast rule of course, but it can be applied in this instance.

The "open plan" bit might change things though. A subwoofer 'sees' the entire space and will attempt to fill it all, so if your quoted 14x15 is just a section of the total area you may have to change your strategy. Is that the entire room?

No, the open space is 15 ft wide and 29ft long ( that's measuring into the kitchen also ).
The rear speakers are set up where the lounge room ends which is at the 14 ft mark.

Thats a big space to pressurize. I would really, REALLY do yourself a favor, and WAIT. Wait until you can afford a pair of more powerful subs.

Many people associate Bass with car audio. The sound of your license plate rattling is not sound quality, its distortion. And it is that perspective that I am trying to offer you. A cheap sub is often times worse than no sub at all because it adds its own soundtrack.

I'd try n save for at least a pair of PB2000's, if not better. The holidays are around the corner, and I'd venture just about every single ID company puts on a sale.

So it's basically one large rectangular space then? If so, you might find the PB-1000 is going to struggle. Something larger is probably in order.

Yup basically one big space.. with furniture etc lol.
Not really concerned if it sounds good from the kitchen,, just as long as its decent enough in the lounge area ( the 14x 15 space)

You may not care if the kitchen gets any bass, but the subwoofer will. You can't change the physics aspect of how they couple with the space I'm afraid. If you want to try a PB-1000 in that room be sure to locate a spot close to the listening position(s), otherwise it will struggle to perform (and even then it probably will).

yup,, that's where it sub was going to be placed anyway's. As i mentioned my current sub (KLH e10), is on its last legs.. or i'm just getting fed up with it. so the SVS should be better in my situation than the PL-200.. or isnt there really a comparison due to the room ?

The cubic volume of space will not be your friend, but for certain the SVS will be much better than the KLH.
