New house, new HT basement

I've been fairly quiet on here but been reading some good material since I joined. Well, instead of talking about building a new basement with all my AV stuff, its finally happening! I'm really looking for some help so I get it right the first time. I currently run a 5.1 but I want to pre-wire in for 7.2 for future expansion. A second sub will be the next purchase as far as equipment goes. I'll be asking questions about pre-wire, power, and speaker placement options. Any wisdom is appreciated! Footing for the rest of the house is being dug out today! I am given the option of a 300 or 400 amp service. They say 300 will be enough for anything. Thoughts??

Ps sorry, i'll upload a pic of the basement as soon as I get one thats low enough quality....

I can't imagine a house that requires even 300 amps. I built a 52' * 100' house that only had a 200amp service. Are you putting in heavy welding or pumps?

What is the layout for the HT room?

I'm trying to find a way to show the layout. Everything I try to upload is too big. No, nothing out of the ordinary for the electrical haha!

Is everything electric? No gas? AC? Hot tub? 200A should be plenty. That is 40kW at least.
How big will be your acoustic space for audio?

What I currently have: (2) Polk RTi12 towers, (1) CSi5 center, (2)FXiA6 surrounds, and (1) PSW505 Sub, Onkyo 809 receiver, Parasound 2250 amp for the towers, and a 50" Vizio HDTV.

Also, have a slick sectional that I scored another wedge and couch for so now it'll be a giant 'U' shape of awesome down there when moved in! 10 seats and 6 with recliners!

I'm thinking about making an in-wall equipment rack for my receiver, ps3, amp, vcr, etc. for all the wires to come into and also to have dedicated circuits to the receiver and amp plugs... maybe the subs too but don't really see the need for that.

Looking at monoprice for the speaker wires to run in the walls. Any particular place to get some slick wall boxes for the speaker wire to come out of the walls??

Thoughts and ideas??

you should let 4" above and few behind your onkyo to vent hot air or looking to replace quite soon otherwise.
You wont find much of Polk fans around here, especially for their subs.
I'd sell that amp and polk sub and start looking for nice sub. Start with pair of Dayton Sub1200's
Your Onkyo has plenty of juice to power your current towers

BSA, that receiver won't power 7 channels, especially with those towers in the mix?? Understood about the Polk stuff but its what I have. Eventually I'd like to move up to all SVS stuff. The sub is ok at this point... money will be tied up in the house and wiring for a while. Cool about venting the Onkyo, will do!

Anyone have information about the placement of the side and rear surrounds?

About the placement, I would search Dolby web site for their recommended layout specs.
Also, can you place the front setup on the 20 ft wall? Sit about 12 ft-14 ft and the rear wall would be at a good distance.

I'll look into it but I think I need the space for my sectional.

Any cool solutions for wall mounting speakers and also a clean way to have the speaker wires coming out of the wall??
