I read through the reviews and the reviewer found some faults with the device but says that most people wouldn't notice these deficiencies. Sounds a little arrogant to me. The review goes on comparing its performance to a highend samsung LCD and a plasma display and states that for the most part, the Visio holds its own against the more expensive models. Color me confused.

That remote alone guarantees I would never buy this display!

How much less would this TV cost if it was just a TV!? (yes that can be said of all of them now, I believe)

My son got a Vizio 46" dumb TV about two years ago and I was immediately impressed with it's picture. It's been going strong since then and, based on it's performance, I just bought a Vizio 32" smart TV (for $228!) for our new home in Texas. I'm still impressed with the picture, features, and price. ...and I can get my Netflix, Amazon and Pandora.

...and it's got an analog audio output, choice of fixed or variable, to feed my Marantz 2270.

Personally, I think Vizio may be the Hyundai of the TV world. Great performance, particularly considering the price.

Thanks Markw. Check my equipment list. There's a Visio hiding in there. :) . I more perplexed about the reviewers seemingly contradictory review.

Oh, I didn't read it thoroughly enough. That is often my approach with S&V as there is often waaaay too much rambling, and not enough fact. I just like their pit-chers....

As far as "smart" features go, I say Vizio does it best. A basic interface that isn't flashy and is quick and isn't full of bugs (I'm looking at you Sony and Samsung...). I too would prefer "just a TV" as I don't care about the features built into the TV but I actually have been using Netflix on my Vizio because it is more convenient and works better than using my Xbox One.

Vizio is a great value. I think they are the Hyundai of the TV world. A few years ago you would not catch me recommending Vizio at all. Now they are the only way to get a good full array backlit LCD for under $5,000. The only Sony model that offers full array backlighting is the 75" X940C which retails for $8,000. Every Vizio 40" and up offers full array backlighting which yields better uniformity and contrast. Even Vizio's biggest and most expensive model is less than half as much as that Sony.

Don't even get me started on Android TV. That is an unfinished mess that needs to bake in the oven for at least another year. The same can be said about Samsung's Tizen OS that is in their current TV's. The problem with both of these is the bugs get in the way of just using it as a TV. Whether one uses the smart features or not the fact that the TV can lock up and lose video or sound or just plain freeze at random is enough for me NOT to recommend them at all. When you first plug in a Sony TV with Android guess what you get to do for roughly the next hour and a half. You get to sit there and watch a little spinny thing spin around while it does updates, and no, 1.5 hours is not an exaggeration. It really does take that long. I get to deal with all of these brands daily at my job and I would actually buy a Vizio over most any major brand TV at this point in time.

That's why companies such as Logitech are around. :) I would never not buy a well performing display because of the remote.

I'd buy a similar performing display and spend the hundred bucks on a fabulous meal to go with my Home Theater experience!

An extra large pizza consumed with one's favourite beer(s) is what I'm hankering for. :) Hell, its only 8:20 in the morning too...
