Here's my current setup. I also have $2,000, what should I upgrade first?

ML sound like it may be my final choice then. Although I was looking at the Def Tech Supercube 8000 as well. Any opinions on them? Seems like their passive radiator design produces some pretty low frequencies.

Def Tech specs are completely useless. Realistically 14hz at from their tiny boxes is physically not possible. Without specifying range (as in typical +/- 3db) Def tech 14hz could mean 14hz at -20db - basically only dogs could hear it

Def Tech has a reputation for fudging their specifications. They are still popular speakers enjoyed by many, but you cannot rely on their spec's to provide good information!

With a room that size, I would put that money towards something like a Rythmik FV15HP as shown in this link .http://www.rythmikaudio.com/FV15HP.html . I would than immediately save up to get a 2nd unit. The first unit would absolutely outperrform both your Polk subs by a wide margin but that is a big room to pressurize.

Agree. I have a big open room, (like yours). My first serious sub was an FV15HP. It can shake the room, thump your chest and rattle the windows. BUT it can not deliver that performance equally to all seats. I could have my seat strong and my wife's weak, or vice versa, but not both. I had to add a second sub for even bass thruout the room. Not for more volume, but for evenness.

Just to clarify I get a ridiculous discount on Martin Logan, B&W, Def Tech, and Energy only. Anything outside of those I am not interested in. Granted that FV15HP looks like a great solution, but with my discount I could get 3 Martin Logan Dynamo 15's for that price.

Hi Breezy,
I would skip the 40's and go with the Motion 60XT's. That will give you better bass. You say you get a huge discount so that may put the 60XT's in your $2000.00 price range. Go big now and then you don't have to worry about it later.
I have heard the Motion 40's and liked them, but for a room the size of yours, they may not fill it well. If you think you might have placement issues with two subs, keep in mind that the MartinLogan subs offer a wireless solution.

However, with a room that size 2k won't even be enough for the subwoofers you'll need. Notice the plural; realistically speaking, you will need duals. If you can only manage a single unit look at something like the JTR Captivator 1400. That at least has a fighting chance.

I would listen to this guy. He reviews subs on his spare time and knows his Sh*t.
