So I just got back in town after 2 weeks on the road. My TV says it can not display this programs content protection. Replacing the TV's HDMI cable with a component cable will allow me to view the program.

I called direct tv and they said that the broadcasting networks have started to block HDMI transmission due to people recording content or something to that effect....

Anybody else having this issue???

Thanks

Um, so then it would be analog and analog can be recorded just as easily.

Interesting... I thought the law was that no device can output anything over 480p over analog cables and anything higher requires HDMI. This seems to be somewhat contradictory.

Are we missing something here?

No they want you to watch in 480p. That is the point. I have not run into this yet, but I was just waiting for providers to throw in the towel and stop access to HD content.

I have been onto the site.

Jeff R will have to buy an new TV with later HDCP codes if he wants to watch premium channels in HD.

Sorry it is new TV time for him.

This is the oldest TV in the house and my other TV that is newer seems to be working.

Thanks for the advice TLS. Looks like I have to start shopping for a new TV for the kitchen.

Hmm... Perhap's something to do with Copyright? The TV might have faulty HDMI Copyright protection. You may need to get a new one. :/

At times you may have issues depending on the sequence you turn on your components. When it happens, write down your sequence at the moment and change the turn on sequence and see what happens.
