M-Audio AV40 vs Microlab SOLO6C?

Hi,

I live in Israel where most speaker models that are available in the US are not available for purchase. I've narrowed down my initial list to these two models in the title, according to my budget.

The price difference between them is negligible.

They'll be used for TV shows, movies and music. I currently own a pair of Creative T20 speakers which sound just OK. Their bass is distorted and very underpowered, and that's something I hope will improve with my next speakers, despite the lack of subwoofer on both models I mentioned (their woofers are bigger).

So, which of them would you recommend?

Thanks.

I have never heard of Microlab. Looking at some pics of that model, it certainly LOOKS like a decent option, but looks can be deceiving. It is nice that it has a remote though.

I am familiar with M Audio though. I like M Audio in general, for what it is. They will never be game changing giant killers, but they offer solid products that get you reasonable performance at reasonable prices.

Thanks for the reply. Would you agree that, considering they have bigger woofers (6.5" vs 4"), the SOLO6C would produce more substantial bass? I would accept a small loss of detail for better bass, and I'm afraid the AV40 won't be much of an improvement in the bass department when compared to my T20 speakers, which sport 2.5" woofers.

But KRK are way above the budget, as far as I know. What model exactly are you referring to?

Yes, but they seem to be double the price of the SOLO6C. That's the cheapest I found them, anyway (model: CR4).

How much are the CR4 over there?
They are $150 here.

The SOLO6C are $184, the AV40 are $200 and the CR4 are $460.
