Advising one to 'choose for yourself', but 'follow the herd because those numbers can't all be wrong', seems contradictory.

If the OP actually does listen to a number of different speakers other than Bose, he will readily understand why they are considered such a poor value.
===================

That is, if OP listen to numerous speakers other than bose, but the problem is he is not listening, so how now? Who is going to blame on this you think?

Oh ok, we just compare the orb & gallo which is the closest to acoustimass;
Is this your first rodeo? “Compare” means go out and actually listen. Do you play sports from your armchair, too?

Look, you're already sold. Why are you still sitting in front of your computer instead of hooking them up right now?

Seriously? He gave you five options for comparison in the post you quoted.

>>>yes I compared it with the 2 that he said closes to acoustimass - you read.

If you think that Acoustimass bass module generates low frequencies, then you obviously do not know what true, excellent low frequency extension sounds and feels like. >>>>so what is it? 10hz or lesser? which brand model you referring has true, excellent low frequency extension sounds?

If you weren’t convinced by the link provided in the second post, then I’m sure nothing can dissuade you. Below is a synopsis of the “good reasons” we’ve given you on this thread. >>>>>no its not overpriced, that is only an opinion, read my comparison of the closest rival to bose acoustimass which is orb & gallo. Don't talk anymore of store demo studio if they really rigged the sound inside. The most important is that in actual, negative reviews comments for bose are only found in internet blogs forums, but still a lot of people are buying bose and it keep on increasing compared to other brands which is supposedly high end speakers. Bose will never compare their product side by side to any high end brand because the true measurement of good audio is how the listener perceive the sound. If he think the sound is not good then he will not buy. But if good then he will buy. I answered already others, please read my comments.

How about a pair of Hsu Research bookshelfs + a Hsu VTF2 sub? How about three WaveCrest Audio HVL-1 + a Rythmik LV12R? Add a pair of Fluance AVBP2 for surrounds if you must have 5.1. How about a simple pair of JBL Studio 530 and an NXG NX-BAS-500? Since the only requirement is to piece together a system that outperforms the Acoustimass, this is too easy. Every combo that happens to pop into my head ticks that check box. How about a pair of Infinity Kappa towers and no sub at all? If building a system out of satellites is your goal, I'm sure I can still find something from A4L and add a diminutive Outlaw Audio sub.

Are those speakers you've mentioned are same form factor of acoustimass 10? if not I better not compare it. Compare apple to apple please.

The problem of putting piece by piece of different brands of speakers, you will end up keep on tweaking the correct settings you desired when playing music. You have a good setting in listening to rock music but then when it changes to jazz or classical or R&B you will go through again tweaking with the settings, How to enjoy and relax music if you always do like this everytime genre change. Bose will just easily appeal to many due to its ease of setting up and use, just connect the speakers to receiver then turn on the music, that's it, and you will enjoy virtually all music genre with just one setting. But again this is subjective.
