I am planning to buy the 999USD Bose Acoustimass 10 Series V 2 weeks from now. I saw the reviews in Amazon and Crutchfield and its says an excellent 5.1 setup with superb clarity, loud and distortion free even at high volumes. I auditioned it in one of the Bose Store here and I confirmed it is as what positive reviews says in Amazon and Crutchfield. Then I read many other threads on Bose Acoustimass and it says the other way around. Now I'm confused.

Any advise?, Do I need to look for another else? But I see the size of bose speakers so small and heard the sound so good, and may even save a space in my house, but of course my top priority is the sound of the speakers it produce.

What BoredSys said. You won’t find any love for Bose on any home theater forum, where people know good sound. Our main “beef” with Bose is that it is drastically overpriced for what you get, in both sound and build quality (as he link will show). The Acoustimass speakers would be a decent deal for a couple hundred bucks, but for $1000 you can do a lot better.

Thanks for Negative feedback you've left me on other thread. That will really hurt me.

Thanks BoredSysAdmin. Oh I have read the first paragraph of nyet.org/bose/ under "The Cubes" and it seem this explanation is so detailed. But what I don't understand is that if bose uses very cheap papercone drivers in cubes, why it is so lasting that my uncle's acoustimass 10 since 2000 is still alive today seem the sound still very nice to hear and its so loud, he changed amps 3 times already it seem it don't have any damage to the speakers except the color and scratches/stains on the body specially the sub.. The sub is still well performing we've watched age of extinction bluray and still the sub thrilled us even at high volume driven by Yamaha rxv671. what kind of cheap papercone that bose are using that it could lasts for so many years without damage?

Point is... go out and listen to as many speakers as you can. Then, and only then will you understand how much is lacking from those cubes.

The Acoustimass is not a subwoofer, and never will be. It can't reach those frequencies, period.

Hi Wayne - yes I seldom see home theater forum who favors bose except only to amazon or crutchfield reviews etc. maybe they hide bad reviews in order to get sales.... For me Good Sound is very subjective, of course the more accurate to tell is by the use of measurement equipments how certain sound perform or produce in numerous parameters or criteria. But these criteria should relate to the listener how he perceive the sound. The simplest measurement for an average person is usually done by hearing only, there he can decide to buy or not.. What I don't understand is that many people still buy bose speakers in spite of overpriced, even today. As to the link posted by BoredSysAdmin it seems i noticed the website don't have comments or replies below from other people who read it.

I know we can get 1k for other better set, but my concern is the size, what other brand can match the size of bose cube? that gives better sound response?

Thanks

Thanks TheWarrior: But I went out already but could not find same size of bose cubes that performs same sound. My concern also is the size, seem my living room is not big so I need also to consider to save a space..

The acoustimass box when I watched demo movie, seemed it goes down to a very low frequency. When you say "it can't reach those frequencies", which value is that?

You like the looks, size, price and sound. You seem to want us to talk you out of Bose.

In my days of computer sales, "bid rigging" was when a bid was written so tightly that only one computer would meet it's needs. That's what you've got going here.

Just go for the Bose. Lots of non-critical listeners love it. You won't find that magic combination elsewhere.

Thanks mark for your comment, Got it, now I have first plus point here. Yes becoz some people do bashing the bose without really giving a clear point that I could ever get.

Sometimes bid rigging is important in the company in order to move forward.

Hi Mark - Ya a lot of non-critical listeners love it, young and olds. But I'm critical listener too, that's why I wanted to buy Bose A10 V because the sounds I heard seem to be high end and excellent soundstage. The cubes are now fixed on the wall, no need to swivel.

My opinion I think I will enjoy it based on what I heard in the demo store

Despite dinging me, I will let you last piece of knowledge. If you're smart - you'd hear me out or else just go and buy your favorite cubes.

In-store demos are not what they appear to be:

Another story here:

Another collection of bad bose reviews:
http://www.firstadopter.com/fa/archives/001749.html

The reason these are few, not because Bose is great, but since they never allow to compare their system side by side or be measured by 3rd party.

Bottom line - as many already said - If you stuck on Bose and feel that you'd be happy with them - go for it.
But if you're willing to listen to voice(s) of reason - slow down - do your own research and buy speakers which actually sound good - especially for music, not few fake (and very carefully manipulated) tracks in store.
