Product worked for few minutes....Waste of money. Terrible support.

I would like to tell about my terrible nightmare with my recently aquision.

On October 21, 2014 I purchased thisDenon AVR-S700W 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in Amazon.com LLC website for U$399,00 + Tax and shipping.

As I`m not from USA, I returned to my home (Brazil) few days after the purchase expecting to install my receiver with no worries.

When I started to install the receiver I notice that after some minutes the receiver shutdown by itself with no reason.

Then I tested and I did all the things in the Denon's website support but it doesn't work.
The issue is, after some minutes it just turn it off. It start to blink the green light when is turn it on and then it shut it down blinking in red.

According to the support this is a kind of protection. But there is no issues regarding installation and is still blinking.http://denon.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/66/~/the-protect-indicator-comes-on-or-the-on/standby-led-flashes

I called Denon support and they told me that the support is only in USA and I should ship the product to there.

Come on.. The price to ship to USA is insane!

There are so many topics in the internet about this issue. The warranty control is terrible. Denon should be a top factory in terms of product but it is showing exactly the opposite.
U$400,00 in a piece of junk stuck in my home theater furniture

On 23th June 2015 I flew to US just to repair my unit. I went to one of Denon`s repair authorized.

Electronic Laboratory, Inc.

1301 West Copans RoadSuite A4
Pompano Beach , FL 33064
Tel.: (954) 969-2855 Fax: (954) 969-2879

They told me that it took 8 days just for analyse.

Since 23th June 2015 I didn`t receive any other news about the product.

I spent more than $400 in the unit + another trip to USA ($1000,00) just to repair and now I don`t have any clue about when I`m going to receive my money back.

To waste of time / money and mainly patience

Lesson should be learned here - Next time buy the product MADE and Available in local (international) market and you'll get local warranty. If you decided to cheat the system and save few bucks, don't blame the vendor. This is pretty much same for any electronics product.

The lesson isn`t this. The lesson learned is buy the product in Best Buy and they can offer Geek SQUAD where small companies like Denon doesn`t extend support. If the product can`t be repaired they give your money back. this is a real and reliable company.

Apple is not the same. WORLD WIDE WARRANTY
BOOSE is not the same.

As I said before for small companies only local warranty.

Denon isn't a small company, they just have a different policy and you were trying to get around that policy.

Best Buy a reliable company? I'm surprised they're still around, and don't expect them to be much longer. They'll become an internet presence like the rest of the B&Ms boxes.

Bose lol.

OP took a gamble, and crapped out.

It sucks, get over it.

I completely understand. The power grid may not be up to the same standards as in the USA, so Denon is simply protecting themselves.

Buy the gear from an authorized retailer in your country in the future.

Are you saying that Brazil has Best Buy and the Geek Squad? Why didn't you purchase from them to begin with?

either take it back to, or send it back to where you bought it. Problem solved.

What's that you say? You didn't buy it in that country? Oh, well. Lesson learned I hope.

You may have paid a bit less but you lost the ability to take it back locally. You gambled and lost.

Most of us love Denon. I've got a 13 year old receiver and an 8 year old (almost) Universal player and love 'em both.

And, Denon is a pretty big company. It's owned by D&M Holdings. Do you know what that stands for? Denon & Marantz. Yeah, a small company.

So, Gustavo. What else do you have to add to this site, or did you just join to try to trash Denon?

Yea I read about that - it can change even in the same city - one can not
fault D&M, or any others on the warranty policy per country.

If I was from out of the country, I would buy the receiver from a site that sells
dual voltage receivers, or buy from my country.

Goods are made for specific locations- look on a Sony box and you'll see a U, E, A, S and other letters and they all pertain to the destination. Some products aren't even available on all continents and remember, you live on a different one from where you bought it.

Did you contact Amazon?
