Wonder if anyone else has had this problem? I plugged my Rotel CD player into the AVR X4000 and tried to play a CD in the following modes: Stereo, Direct, Pure Direct and NEO Stereo and the audio will not play. I hold the music button down on the remote and switch to any other multi-channel mode and the CD plays perfectly through my GoldenEars Triton III speakers Did I forget to do something when I set up the AVR??? Thanks to all responding members.

What 'Amp Assign' mode are you using? If it is set to '5.1 + Front B' or '7.1ch/2ch Front', you'll need to go into 'Front Speaker Setup' and make sure the appropriate setting is picked. If you are not using a second set of speakers for 2ch/Direct/Pure Direct listening, 'Front Speaker Setup' should say 'A' for both options.

Thanks agarwalro. You were correct - one of my speaker / amp assign settings was wrong and I also went through setup assistant and corrected my CD input assignment / selection so now I can have 2 channel music from either my Bluray player or my CD player. Thanks again the advice is much appreciated.
