Those skin care spams we get hit with all the time…

If you see them daily in your e-mail notifications like I do, you’ve no doubt seen that the text of the post is pure gibberish. Yet despite that - have you noticed that the thread titles are entirely lucid? I wonder how they manage to do that...

Speaking of spam... here's a list of unreported spam-bot accounts I've found registered since June 6th...

I've been reporting a lot lately, and didn't want to annoy the Mods anymore... so consider this just one mass spam report...

All bot accounts have either skin care, muscle building or exam book links and/or gobbledygook under
the INFORMATION -> ABOUT section of it's profile.

No worries. It's not the reports that are annoying, and either way it's what we've signed up for.

anybody have a solution for those? my "spam assassin" is almost down to the most aggressive.
i have word filters in place, but this isn't effective since you would need to filter common words for this to work.

i have hundreds of those everyday. (pop email)
my web based emails are ok since i never see the spam.

Mike, forward your "pop" email to gmail, they will get it sorted and filtered. b) configure your email client to get pop3 email from gmail server

thanks for this tip.
i'm halfway to doing this.

i've signed up a new webmail account.
forwarded original email to this webmail.
used outlook to get mail from this webmail account.

but if i disable the incoming messages from my original pop email, my original email box will fill up quickly without outlook telling it to delete the email every now and then.

cant find an option for an auto delete in my settings, i've also emailed my domain provider

Gmail can retrieve from your original pop3 box. There's an option to delete the email after getting it, so your original pop3 won't get filled up

edit:
oh wait. that means my other computers or devices won't get the emails once gmail goes through with it

final option: i guess i can leave one of my computers to get from the pop email directly and purge that at the end of the day

that keeps my whole day computer clutter free

point your other devices to get stuff from gmail and leave it there. Gmail gives pretty generous 15gb limit
in gmail search, just delete emails with large attachments once in a while:

oh i meant the original email box.
one solution in the future would be to delete the original mailbox and just forward everything.
(and like you said, all other devices would get from gmail)

i'll see how gmail handles things the next few days

since it's way faster to list spambot accounts than to report them individually,
here's a list of all the spambot account names I could find under the letter "A", using the "find member" tool found on this page:

The accounts all have spam under the INFORMATION -> ABOUT section of the profile.

I don't know if it's a complete "A" list... as the "find member" tool isn't very efficient.

The old forum's member listing was definitely helpful in that respect. Of course either way, with 55,000 users to go through (the bulk of which are probably junk), it could take a while.
