Since T-mobile had a $5/month for 4th line deal, I keep a "home phone" on the desk in the kitchen.
Recently my daughter used it while I had hers fixed and somehow lost it (probably dropped it in toilet and doesn't want to admit to doing that a 3rd time)!:)

So, I need to replace it.

I have a couple of questions for those of you that know a bit about phones:

1) I can get an LG F6 for $80 or a BLU Life One 4G for $100. Any idea which is better? I'm assuming the newer BLU is, but am not familiar with the brand.

2) My personal phone is a Galaxy S3 that is starting to get long-of-tooth. Honestly, it does everything I expect from it. However, it occurs to me that the F6 or BLU are getting close to if not better phones than my S3, so maybe I should make it the "home phone" and replace my phone. What would you suggest? I don't want to spend $600 for a premium phone. If you can give me an option or two for around $300 or less. (T-mobile)

I have the Galaxy S6 and wish I had of kept the S3...The 3 does everything the 6 does and the battery lasted longer and you could carry a spare.

Best bang for the buck was with Google nexus 5 phone. For $350 new, it was and still is great phone.
If you want new budget phone from tmobile, check lg neon LTE or ZTE max pre-owned

Oh and BLU Life ONe (2015 model) is better than LG F6
better cpu/vgu (slightly so)
better screen (bigger and more pixels)
more internal storage 4 vs 8 gb - this one is HUGE DEAL. Not all apps can be moved to SD storage

Is the lack of SD storage an issue for the Nexus 5?
I'm looking at 16GB for $340. Doesn't look like the price has dropped since these were introduced. (or maybe it started as $350 plus 2 year contract?)

Let me see if I've got this right. You had a fourth phone, on account T-Mobile had a sweet deal, which you kept at home. Your daughter, whose iPhone you're getting repaired, used it and lost it. I'm assuming she's not old enough to somehow make some money to pay for any of this. Further, you can't locate it by calling the number and listening for the ring and you haven't installed some kind of tracking app.

I don't know squat about cell phones, but if this 4th phone is just the backup phone and doesn't need to have all kinds of bells and whistles, why not consider looking at a website like TechBargains or SlickDeals for a suitable phone? Shop on price.

To SD or not to SD? That is the question, only you could answer :)
Then my commute to work was mostly in underground subway - that used to be an issue - so I got galaxy s4 few years ago.

It depends how you intend to use. For apps - 16gb is plenty. But if you want to copy lots of music/movies - if you'll quickly run out of space.

Is that $340 for new device or refub?

You could buy direct from China. I get mailed daily deals from focalprice.com and it looks like some of those phones are pretty decent for the money.

Also, tell your daughter the next time she drops the phone in the toilet, she should just woman up, be honest about it, and give you the waterlogged phone. You may be able to dry it out and fix it by putting it in a zip-lock full of uncooked rice. The rice draws out the moisture.
