Is ur paranoia justified?

I think we all knew this was coming but this is the first time I’ve read where it’s been put into practice by joint local/national law enforcement agencies. http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/technology/surveillance-planes-spotted-in-the-sky-for-days-after-west-baltimore-rioting/2015/05/05/c57c53b6-f352-11e4-84a6-6d7c67c50db0_story.html?wpisrc=nl_headlines&wpmm=1

This will be one of the premier civil liberty issues of our times. How much privacy are u/we entitled to in this age? I see valid legal arguments on both sides of the fence.

Consumer beware.

Thanks for the post and article. I have no opinion on the planes at this moment but will be curious to see how this unfolds.

We also willingly and sometimes unwittingly give out a lot of information about ourselves if we're on the Internet, browsing and shopping. Even when we shop at stores charging this or that, giving out our zip codes, using store loyalty cards, etc. Many companies exist that look to turn this unruly mess of data into something that be used to target consumers, influence broad population opinions, really just about anything. Baker in his book The Numerati spoke a out how data mining was successfully used by Obama during the first presidential election. Things have come a long way from filling out warranty cards.

At least they got Cessnas spying on them...

You should see all the black helicopters hovering around my house right now...

If I were a paranoid fella, I'd be worrying about the Feds busting down my doo...

uh oh...

the intrusions are vast & immersive from both corporations and the government already. everybody seems to be walking around with a finger up their you know what, waiting for someone to pipe up and have a national discourse about it. what are we waiting for? the existing legal protections are dated and need to be reviewed/modified for these times.

ever push that "I Accept" for a new app, etc.? Gottcha!!!

If I was paranoid and felt that something I said or wrote might come back to bite me, I'd set up my own email server and give it a good scrubbing every now and then.

Just a guess, the FBI was looking for crowds that gathered at night, during the curfew. Police watching people walking about day or night is not new. Personally, I think the ACLU should find something else to worry about.

My experience, years ago while in the Navy, has convinced me that nothing we say over the phone or on the net is truely private. It may be legally protected, but it is not immune to prying or interception. If you have something to say that you wouldn't want to print out and put on a public bulletin board, then don't send it by email or say it over a non-secure medium like cell phone.

If you are really paranoid, you'd find a way to encrypt your brain waves.

If you go to the scene of a riot, you should be watched. And if you commit a crime while there, you should be watched going home, then apprehended.
