Bought a 4k TV, confused whether or not I need to upgrade my receiver.

Using an older H/K Receiver, the 7550HD. TV won't be here til next week, right now I'm wondering if my receiver will suffice for now. I'd rather wait until later this year or even next year before upgrading receivers since UHD blu ray isn't out yet.

Am I safe to run my Xbox One/PS4/Comcast box through this receiver and have the TV upscale the image to 4k, or is that not going to work? I'm confused as to whether or not that's possible.

The only native 4k content I even have is built in apps (amazon/netflix) and my gaming computer. I figured I can just run HDMI directly to TV for the computer and use an optical to get audio.

Send the video to the TV and use an optical to send audio to the AVR- it won't do 4K or HDCP2.0 (or higher). That way, you can take your time in deciding when and what to buy.

I have a 4K TV and I would not worry about Comcast/Xbox/PS4 all work perfectly fine and run through your receiver just fine. You will not have issues

As for your PC you mostly likely will not be able to do 4k unless your TV has a DisplayPort input, though I could be mistaken. Make sure your videocard supports 4K as well. There have been issues with various TVs. Most VideoCards have issues with the display 4K through HDMI.
