Texas, The state of extremes

That is just bizarre that parts of Texas would go from a severe 5 year drought to over 11 inches of rain in a 24 hour period. My condolences to those families affected who experienced loss of life and or property.

Everything's bigger in TX!

Yeah, it's odd, but I don't know how many times I've seen historic droughts ended with historic floods. Not just in TX, everywhere it seems to happen that way often.

I'm maybe 50 miles from the severe flooding on the Blanco River where houses and people were washed away. I think the official count right now is 13 people dead or missing.

The Blanco got so high that it actually went OVER I-35 and they had to close down the interstate completely, both directions!!!

I went down to the creek near my house yesterday and it was very high, but not too bad at all. Certainly, it didn't get as high up as I expected it. I always get nervous on that creek, but I breath a little easier now.

Yeah, the storms have been fairly severe all over the state for the last few weeks. I'm glad the drought is over but I didn't want the rain to come like this.

I would be very surprised with ground being that hard and dry that much water will be absorbed into the ground.
