I am looking for a new TV...

I really don't want it to be more than 42" wide so 46" diagonal will be max. I'll have a PS3 hooked up to it so it doesn't need to be "smart". It will be used mostly for movies and video games but will watch some standard def TV at times. Window glare will not be an issue.

I've looked at some Samsungs and Vizios but what are your suggestions? The Vizios prices and reviews are good but they get dinged on these boards more then I'd like to see.

I'd like to stay under $750USD.

What say Ye?

I'd get whatever YAA is dumping at about half his asking price. He's trying to move so you know, no mercy. :D

Any of the Sammy 46-48" above " should be fine in 1080P or the 48 H5500 mentioned
the Samsung 46 H6400 is a real decent 1080p but it's about $1K .

The Sony KDL48 510C got an OK not remarkable review otoh with (excellent contrast ) at rtings .com for an inexpensive 48" I would maybe look at that if I were shopping in $599.00 range .

I have a more expensive 50" 2013 Sony R4 in here it's very decent although behind my bigger Sammy Plasma ofc .:p

I like the very inexpensive Seiki 46" I picked up from hhgregg a couple of years ago. Very reliable and it's said to use the same panels as Samsung. I find myself watching it more than my big Panny plasma.

I may be a little late to the party but my stepson in Texas bought a 46" Vizio about two years ago and, along with having the best picture I've seen out of the box, it's still going strong. Now that we're in the process of transitioning from Jersey to Texas, and going back and forth over the next few months, we just bought a Vizio 32" smart TV (for $228) that will eventually wind up in a bedroom. When the move is finalized, hopefully by the end of the year, we'll be buying a 55 -60" Vizio.

Personally, I think that Vizio just might be the Hyundai of the TV world. Great performance at a great price.

But, it seems that any TV of size is going to be a smart TV. ...just like most Blue-Ray players.

Update...

I took my old 42" Panny S1 plasma out of our bedroom and used it. Then bought a Samsung 48" j6300 for the bedroom. So far so good and I am just using the suggested settings from rtings.com. I'll run an actual bluray calibration some time....
