Got a new Vizio a few months back and noticed the right side of the screen doing strange things. Pic attached below. Theres just a line on the right side but not in every instance is it there. Ideas? TV bad? Connection? Receiver?

Unless you've got a strong magnet too close to the screen, and you've made sure every connection is pushed in all the way.... you will want to talk to the store you purchased it from about sending it in under warranty.

I'm pretty sure magnets don't affect non-CRT screens. It's time to call the warranty into play, ASAP.

It might be the cablebox, if it's not happening on all video options (i.e. Blu Ray, Video Game, etc) I would think it might be a source other than the TV. You might also want to try switching HDMI ports and cables, just to check it out.

1. Plug source directly into TV
2. Check to see if you screen is out of alignment, i.e. you can manualy adjust the picture to move over

Good idea it could be scaling or something like you say .

OP should also make sure the Pixel setting in the TV is 1:1 or +1 (or in STB also if present ) it may be the panel altough that looks a bit odd for a TCON board or LVDS fault at the panel bonded tabs or othrewise .. Mainboard ?

In any event AFAIK Vizio does not supply parts so they will just exchange the set during waranty warranty period anyway if that's the problem verified by an independant service tech they may send out or however they do that .

FWIW AFAIK Vizio doesent supply parts or repairs only exchange sets during waranty .

No elecron beams to deflect or metal shadow mask/grid to magnetize in an LCD only switching transistors in the LCD cell and LVDS drivers .

OTOH strong magnets near the screen may not be a good idea I don't know .

I don't think we are looking at that *here * it's affecting scaling and pixel rows i.e. HDTV Horizontal Blanking here specifically stray magnetics arent that precisce .TBH I'm thinking main board drifting out of sync ......I'm suprised it's not barber poling like a CRT out of H. sync.☻☻
