I need help on hooking up a Blu-ray to a stereo for sound.

I have this Blu-ray player:

The Blu-ray player has one orange Digital out coaxial output and the stereo has only one audio input and is a 3.5mm jack.


My question is there a cable that has 3.5mm jack on one end and digital coaxial on the other end ? and is it going to work well ? I would like to have stereo sound coming through my two speakers.

No there is not. The output from the BD player is digital and the input to your shelf player is analog. You will have to purchase a DAC that will accept COAX SPDIF digital in. It will output RCA most likely. This will convert the digital output of your BD player to analog.

So you will then need a 3.5 mm to RCA cable.

IT's gonna takae a bit more than just a cable to accomplish that. fortunately, it's not all that difficult.

first, you have to convert that digital audio to analog audio. This DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) should do that.

This particular unit says it comes with the cable needed top connect it to your Blu-Ray player.


Once that's done, this cable will take that signal from that unit into your stereo.

Please note that these are but two examples of many that will do this and are shown merely to point you in the right direction. But, they reasonably priced and SHOULD provide a solution to your dilemma. hopefully, others will correct me if I'm wrong.

Of course, if ypur TV offers analog audio outputs, that might be another direction you could explore.

Thanks it's what I'm going to need a DAC. But now that I think about it, I need to hook up my cable box to it too. So I'll have to get one with switcher like A or B one for my Blu-ray and the other for my DVR. Do you guys see any problems with this ?
