Fast and the Furious 7

I liked the original Fast and the Furious back in 2001, then was treated to 2 sequels that made me lose interest (Can anyone say Tokyo Drift). At the end of the day if you can take over the top, impossible to do in real life car stunts, and underdeveloped script and plot, add in some terrible acting and still lead the box office for the week, they have to be doing something right.......right.......right

They short answer is yes, they do some things right. Cool cars, some of the best
Choreographed fight scenes (Thank you Tony Jaa), throw in some cameo's (Rhonda Rousey, Kurt Russle, The Rock), did I say cool cars, and you have just created eye candy on the screen that just about covers every demographic.

It's a movie series that doesn't take itself too seriously, sticks the the same formula it has for the previous 6, ads an excellent vilian in Statham, and plenty of lady eye candy.

The plot line is pretty much the same of the last movie, Bad Guys after Dom, Government needs his help and his crew to get a device and capture the bad guy.

It was interesting to see how they said goodbye to Paul Walker at the end, and I enjoyed that part, and I am ashamed to say I actually had fun watching the movie. It definitely will not win any awards for acting, but it has a lot of action, excellent fight scenes that are taken up a notch from the last movies, and was a fun way to kill 2+ hours, yes this movie is over 2 hours long!

Funny moment, was when Dom went to Tokyo to talk to the Lucas Black(Sean) from that movie, they show the scene from Toyko Drift where Dom pulls up, then the shoot a new sceene where him and Dom are talking, and its comical how much older Lucas looks in the same clothes.

The ending car chase & fight scenes are so unbelievable, it makes comic books seem more realistic, but it is still fun.

It is definitely worth a rental, and for some to see it on the big screen, at the end of the day I had fun, so it isn't all bad.

These movies are what they are, nothing more. Anyone who goes to these to expect some sort of spiritual enlightenment or deep social message is going to be sorely disappointed.

Now, if you what total non-stop action, lots of explosions, and first rate stunt acting which cannot be paralleled to any existing reality, then you are in the right theatre.

We saw it yesterday and had a ball.

I actually really like Tokyo Drift. :) I know it's not for everyone, but there's something about it that I dig. I finally bought it on blu-ray over the holidays.

The second and fourth movies did nothing for me, but if you haven't seen the fifth and sixth ones, I highly recommend them. I think that they did a great job bringing the franchise back in those.

I have appropriate expectations for all of the sequels and therefore find them all entertaining.

There is only one sticking point for me.....bra

Aw, spring for the big screen. It's worth it for the big bang boom scenes and the wide spread of the action, though. I wouldn't go for IMAX and/or 3D though.

As a positive, this might increase the number of entertainingly absurd YouTube clips of kids attempting to do really stupid things with cars!
