Cool test! I got 4 out of 5, but it was really hard. The differences weren't as obvious as I thought they'd be. Wonder whether headphones would make a difference?

I still intend to encode MP3s for my wife's iPod at 192kbit or higher though.

Anyway, nice find, 3db!

Went 4 out of 5 using a set of Klipsch ear buds on my laptop. IMO, track 2 was fairly easy to discern, while I couldn't claim to hear a difference on track 3.

3/5, but really 2/5 because I guessed on one.

Admittedly, I'm not great at discerning stuff like this, which is why I tend to use a CD I bought from Linkwitz to help evaluate speakers.

I only get one sample and I guessed it correctly, listening on my office desk setup (D1+LSR2325p)
Honestly female vocals were very close, but 128 had a bit less clarity with music. Voice sounded nearly identical.

Seriously, I have no life.
The music chosen was awful. However it was easy to pick the 3 selections that did not have the distorted bass. Those heavy metal samples with the distorted bass where impossible.

The other three were easy to tell and interestingly it was the bass detail that gave it away. I could not tell on these samples when the bass was distorted.

Pop music is awful and badly engineered and has no natural ambient envelope.

With decent music it is easy to tell 128 kbs from 320 kbs.

Why anybody wants to listen to that sort of garbage is totally beyond me.

like most everybody I got 4 of 5. I got the 1st one wrong but once I was paying closer attention I noticed the background instruments weren't as clear on the 128kbps sample as the 320kbps.

this was one of the comments from the website "This test is broken; I'm not sure if it's an intentional troll job or if it's an accident. At any rate: I used Firefox's developer tools to monitor the samples this page downloaded. Both the "A" and the "B" samples are 320kbps mp3s with identical file sizes."

You can actually see the samples here:

There are definitely different clips for 320kbps and 128kbps.
